Devon Transport Ltd. owns and operates over 30 Budget Car and Truck locations as well as Budget Self Storage units across BC. We are seeking a resourceful and knowledgeable Accounting Manager to join our corporate administration team in Nanaimo. This role is for you if:

Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager is responsible for the effective management of the daily accounting operations, including supervising staff, ensuring efficient workflow, and adhering to policies and procedures.

**Key Responsibilities**

Operations and Financial Management
- Manage the full cycle accounting process and maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
- Manage the daily operations of the Accounting Department
- Lead year-end financial procedures and liaise with external auditors
- Ensure that transactions are properly reviewed and recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards
- Oversight of the maintenance and reconciliation of the general ledger and bank accounts, ensuring accuracy in financial records
- Assist in the timely preparation of monthly financial reports
- Coordinate the preparation of reports to government agencies as applicable
- Review existing accounting processes to streamline and improve efficiencies.
- Provide input in the development and implementation of finance operational guidelines, policies and procedures
- General office administration oversight

People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff of seven, fostering a collaborative and high performing team environment
- Evaluate the performance of accounting staff as per established process, providing coaching and constructive feedback
- Encourage and support cross training of roles to allow for staff leaves, ensuring adequate coverage and mínimal service disruption

**Qualifications and Experience**
- Undergraduate degree in Business, with a focus on Accounting
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA) is considered an asset
- Minimum four (4) years of accounting and financial reporting experience
- Excellent MS Office Skills (Excel, Outlook and Word)

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present to staff, senior executives, and other stakeholders

- Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a team-oriented approach.
