The Regional Cancer Program oversees the delivery of cancer services across the Erie St. Clair (ESC) region. The Indigenous Projects Coordinator supports and advocates for the First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous (FNIMuI) patients and their families throughout the ESC with the goal of improving access to culturally safe service delivery for Indigenous community members throughout the cancer journey. As a vital team member, the Project Coordinator will provide a broad range of project and administrative support services relevant to improving the cancer journey with, and for, FNIMuI patients, family members and communities. The Project Coordinator will support the building and maintaining of relationships through respectful engagement with Indigenous partner organizations. This position supports the leadership team with regional program development through the coordination of regional work plan deliverables and continuing strategies and events.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Build relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous community and healthcare partners to enhance cancer services
- Attend monthly OH-CCO meetings as required; participate in discussions and review of materials as requested; attend annual OH-CCO Face-to-Face meetings
- Assist in the development and evaluations of new patient programs for both the Regional Cancer Program (RCP) and region
- Support the work plan deliverables of the Regional Indigenous Cancer Lead
- Support the work plan deliverables of the Regional Indigenous Navigator
- Support the work plan deliverables of the Indigenous Projects Coordinator
- Consults with other health professionals and agencies such as Community Health Centres, Indigenous organizations, Traditional Healers, and Elders from various communities to provide support to patients and their networks
- Consult on patient-related program activities implemented in the RCP to create recommendations for program development
- Consider the cultural needs of Indigenous communities in the provision of optimal communications and education strategies within the ESC region;
- Conducts environmental scans or needs assessments related to Indigenous cancer patient educational strategies and materials across the cancer continuum as required
- Plans for, interprets and analyzes relevant data to guide quality improvements
- Considers the culturally sensitive needs of targeted communities in the planning of optimal educational venues and development of educational tools
- Manages process improvements and program development projects, keeping senior management apprised of progress and issues.
- Attend community events as requested by community organizations and stakeholders

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as Health, Social Sciences, Education or related field.
- A minimum 2-3 years direct experience in a healthcare setting preferred;
- Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a project coordinator role (project planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting);
- Experience working independently as well as in a team and effectively managing multiple priorities;
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of First Nation, Inuit and Métis history, culture and health/socio-economic issues/needs;
- Knowledge of the concepts of culturally safe care and how this is supported in a healthcare environment;
- Knowledge of the healthcare environment and the cancer system as well as the cancer journey as it relates to FNIMuI people;
- Positive interpersonal skills and professionalism;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication;
- Demonstrated problem solving;
- Demonstrated leadership and the ability to facilitate change;
- Experience in evidence-based research and evaluation an asset;
- Familiarity with Google Workplace is an asset;
- French Language proficiency an asset;
- A valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle required.
