**Position Description**:
SickKids serves a diverse population of patients and families by offering holistic comprehensive services across a wide range of clinical specialties. The Department of Psychology at the Hospital for Sick Children is looking for a Patient Information Clerk to join our specialized team. This permanent position allows you the opportunity to work within a fast-paced medical and mental health team at SickKids and provides a diverse learning experience.

The Patient Information Clerk main responsibility will be to schedule and coordinate appointments for several psychology clinics. Specifically, infants, children, and adolescents and their families with a variety of medical diagnoses in the areas of neurology, hematology/oncology, genetics metabolic, and cardiology. You will provide service in a patient-focused manner. You will facilitate patient care delivery by providing a high level of support and assistance to clinic staff and patients/families. You will also support the team/department's operation by providing clerical and administrative functions in a proactive, organized manner.

**Here's What You'll Get To Do**
- Schedule and coordinate patient related appointments and meetings
- Maintain and document accurate wait lists, contacting families to make clinical appointments, gathering initial referral data and history
- Scheduling appointments consistent with EPIC required procedures to allow for accurate reporting.
- Pre-screening and reminders prior to in-person appointments.
- Maintain electronic calendar/schedules
- Prints and collates various reports, inputs schedules and makes changes to schedules and rosters as needed.
- Work within a fast-paced environment; efficiently manage, triage, and assess a varied caseload under specific required timelines within a child and family centered approach to care.
- Maintain the highest level or patient privacy in all daily tasks.
- Greet patients and families who are coming to the psychology department for daily appointments in a warm and welcoming manner.
- Provide frontline service to all patients, follow up on tasks completion and patient requests as needed.
- Handling incoming inquiries and responding appropriately
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Here's What You'll Need**:
**Essential Requirements**
- Previous clerical experience in a hospital/medical environment
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Cloud-based programs (SharePoint, etc.).
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Demonstrated problem solving abilities
- Ability to be self-directed, to be flexible and to take initiative
- Attention to detail and efficient time management
- Strong customer service orientation, patient and family centered
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology
- Ability to deal effectively and co-operatively with staff, patients, and the public
- Demonstrated professional manner
- Ability to work in a stressful environment
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job as per the current physical demands analysis
- Demonstrated commitment and actions in advancing equity, diversity and inclusion objectives

**Asset**:

- Diploma from a recognized Medical Administration program
- Patient registration experience

**Employment Type**

Full-time 35-hour work week (1.0 FTE)
