Associate Director, Baggage Services

**Position Summary**:
Support the Director, Baggage Services to deliver a highly efficient, safe and secure baggage operation for Toronto Pearson passengers and airline customers that operate within the Terminal. Accountable for ensuring an efficient baggage flow that delivers on key performance targets that are critical to the success of Toronto Pearson and the airlines that serve our passengers. Leads the terminal specific Baggage Services team (internal staff and contractors) and is accountable to deliver a world class baggage service to the airlines and passengers.
**As Associate Director, Baggage Services, you will**:
- Lead the day-to-day service delivery of baggage services, which includes
- Management of GTAA Operations and Technical Services staff
- Management of contractor(s) and service providers
- Customer relationship management of airlines and ground handlers
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with all GTAA business units, our customers, agencies and ground handlers
- Oversee and deliver baggage services to our airline customers and passengers
- Establish mitigation strategies for baggage services
- Oversee and execute existing baggage programs including stakeholder relationships with government agencies
- Deliver baggage services in a cost-effective manner
- Develop and management of departmental budgets and large service contracts
- Support and further the business’ vision through building and developing diverse, multi-skilled teams
- Influence and lead by clearly defining what expectations and success looks like to develop a positive, balanced and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations
- Build a healthy environment which motivates and encourages other to do their very best work, removing any barriers and/or obstacles that may be getting in the way
- Coach, mentor and develop individuals and teams to rise to their full potential while providing timely, constructive and consistent feedback and personal development opportunities
- Inspire and empower others to achieve results which exceed expectations and support the shared objective of the organization as a whole
- Demonstrate balance and adaptability knowing how and when to adjust their style to different situations and different people as required
**This is a chance to be on the frontline of history at Toronto Pearson. To do so, you will bring**:
- Post-secondary degree or a combination of education and relevant experience
- 5 years’ experience in an airport environment or similar industry
- 5 years’ experience in people management, preferable in a matrix organization and multiple operations
- Experience working within a unionized environment
- Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance

- Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of complex mechanical systems that operate in a high stress environment
- Demonstrate skills and experience developing and delivering presentations on highly technical information to a varied audience
- Solid understanding of operations in a large airport
- Established professional network of airport industry or similar stakeholders and customers
