**JOB SUMMARY: THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST, UNDER THE AUTHORITY OF THE COORDINATOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES, IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT, ADMINISTRATION, SUPERVISION AND EVALUATION OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES FOR ALL FACULTY AND STAFF.**

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Responsible for supporting and promoting PD for all employee groups: teaching, learning, career development, research and

innovation at JAC.
- Collaborate with internal departments and college ad-hoc committees to support employee’s digital competencies.
- Facilitate, innovate and implement the College’s professional development programs.
- Build and grow appropriate training programs for new employees through LinkedIn learning and other platforms.
- Liaise with HR technician to plan, evaluate and follow up with professional development plan portion of the Performance

Appraisal
- Create, launch, market and continuously improve the career development program according to the evolving needs of our

employees.
- Work In collaboration with the academic professionals and stakeholders to provide pedagogical support programs, directing

to the appropriate resources as required.
- Plan and organize annual professional development events such as the annual college wide PD day, faculty retreats and

annual non-teaching PD days.
- Administer the PERFORMA program in accordance with the “Protocole d'entente” between the University of Sherbrooke

and the College.
- Act as RL for the college, learn best practices and seek out opportunities for inter-collegial collaborations.
- Act as a resource person to the Professional Development Committees (Faculty, Professionals, Administrative Support) as

required.
- Oversee college professional development policies and practices.
- Facilitate faculty and staff access to professional development resources appropriate for the improvement of teaching and

learning.
- Promote positive attitudes and assumptions about teaching and learning.
- Encourage experimentation with new methods and techniques for enhancing learning.
- Initiate, support and evaluate in-house professional development programs and large-scale events.
- Evaluate and report annually on progress of professional development programs/activities:

- Disseminates professional development information to the College community.
- Establish and maintain a network of agencies, experts and resource persons in appropriate areas of higher education and

workplace training.
- Respond to faculty and staff pedagogical and didactic needs.
- Respond to requests concerning professional development funding.
- Prepare correspondence, newsletters and marketing materials related to professional development activities.
- Maintain working knowledge of current trends and programs involved with professional development in education.
- Provide information to faculty regarding the “Programme de formation pour l’obtention d’une maîtrise” and assist in the
- Contribute to the development of the Human Resources Services goals.
- Perform other related tasks as assigned.

**EDUCATION**:Bachelor’s degree in Education or a specialization appropriate to the employment; a Master’s degree in Education would be

an asset.

**SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS**
- Professional development experience preferred
- Knowledge and experience of post-secondary education and teaching would be an asset
- Must have proven ability to develop professional development programs based on pedagogical needs
- Must be fully autonomous and have strong interpersonal skills
- Strong communication and computer skills
- French Intermediate - oral and written
- English Advanced - oral and written
