Fort Edmonton Management Company (FEMCo), the organization that operates Fort Edmonton Park, is looking for energetic and passionate individuals to join our team as the Health & Safety Manager. The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the continued development, implementation and coordination of the FEMCo safety management system as well as other health and safety programs and initiatives, while having a hands-on approach with employees. This includes managing the Prime Contractor role on the Fort Edmonton Park site. This role will provide technical safety and health support to employees and maintain FEMCo’s safety and health management policies and procedures. Working with management, staff, contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation, Act and Codes through exchange of information, training and education, promotion of programs and initiatives. The Health & Safety Manager is also responsible for site ongoing security and team member safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Duties and Responsibilities:

- Work with management to ensure FEMCo's obligations and responsibilities under the relevant Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) legislation are met;- Continue to develop, implement and administer FEMCO’s Health & Safety program ensuring policies, programs and practices reflect regulatory requirements and industry best practices;- Develop contractor management program and ensure that FEMCo is meeting its obligations as Prime Contractor on the Fort Edmonton Park site;- Work closely with City of Edmonton OHS representatives to align FEMCo’s process and procedures with the City of Edmonton's Health and Safety Program.- Develop, implement and maintain the necessary Health and Safety systems, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safe Work Practices to ensure legal compliance, support the delivery of the health and safety plan and promote a positive OHS culture.- Support COR (Certificate of Recognition) certification requirements;- Provide direction and participate in investigation, incident management process and Joint Worksite Health & Safety Committee;- Track trends in internal and external reporting (incident reporting and investigation, statistical analysis, etc.), supply data for updates to Board & Governance and HR Committee and create action plans for areas of improvement and successes;- Coordinate inspections, investigations, and occupational safety activities with FEMCo departments;- Manage Guard House, Parking, Fire Monitoring and security operations, including supervision of staff and oversight of scheduling to ensure efficient operations;- Oversight and optimization of Guard house and site security policies and procedures;
- Other Health & Safety and Security related projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certificate/Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety- Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP) designation is an asset- Strong knowledge in all areas of Alberta OH&S regulations, codes, and practices and- Knowledge in Alberta WCB regulations and practices- Experience implementing COR (Certificate of Recognition) or other recognized safety systems- 3-5 years experience working in Health & Safety- Demonstrated ability to enhance existing programs and develop health and safety programs;- Proven expertise in Safety leadership with demonstrated successes in building consensus and rapport;- Previous leadership & supervisory responsibilities is considered an asset;- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain a high level of confidentiality;- Organization, attention to detail, flexibility and strong ability to multi-task interfacing multiple project situations on any given workday;- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, embracing a team-based, initiative driven environment;- Self starter with a high level of initiative and a positive attitude;- Enjoys change and leading others through it;- Strong written and verbal skills in English;- Excellent interpersonal communication and influencing skills with internal and external stakeholders at all levels;- Valid class 5 driver’s license;- Excellent computer skills, experience with Google Suite considered an asset.
