Achev is currently recruiting a **Part-time Temporary Community** Resource & Wellness Counselor** to work from the Oakville location. This position is funded by the Halton Region; under the Women’s Connection Empowerment Program (WCEP). The role will focus mainly on newcomer & refugee women from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds experiencing a higher level of vulnerability. The position will provide language support, skills coaching, and referrals for in-depth assessment and counseling based on indicated needs.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Support participants through case management & with the provision of tailored information from a cultural-based lens on their wellness needs.
- Intake and complete 1:1 assessment to identify client’s needs.
- Assist vulnerable women to improve their life skills & achieve a greater sense of belonging and wellness to further support their social development.
- Educating & encouraging women’s involvement in discussions, and community events; facilitating information & guidance on a broad range of topics (such as cultural integration, education, parenting, employment, mental health, etc.)
- Provide coaching and group-based sessions using a women-centered approach where participants are provided with an opportunity to connect & learn from each other’s experiences.
- Identify community resources and connect clients with appropriate services.
- Liaise with community & network partners, agencies & groups to enhance working relationships and provide appropriate referrals.
- Outreach and promote the Women Connection Empowerment Program (WCEP), including Achev’s services & programs.
- Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Post Secondary Education in the community social services sector or related fields.
- Minimum of two (2) years of work experience in client service and group facilitation; establishing professional boundaries with clients.
- Understanding and awareness of newcomer women's challenges, including an awareness of diversity issues and an ability to work within a cross-cultural perspective.
- Self-directed, motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
- Fluency in Ukrainian or Dari/Pashto language is required.
- Broad-based knowledge of community and government resources to appropriately refer clients.
- Strong internet research skills with knowledge of MS Office.
- Superior Time Management, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with mínimal supervision.
- Experience in dealing with multicultural and disability issues.
