Currently, Bissell Centre is looking for an individual wanting to join the **Human Resources/People & Culture** team. Are you ready to be our **HR Generalist **and make an impact in our community?

**ABOUT THE ROLE**

The Human Recourses Generalist will provide support in the development and execution of HR strategies and services. Enhancing Bissell Centre's ability to attract, retain, and advance its human capital to achieve its strategic goals and objectives.

This position will run the daily HR functions of the department including policies review, recruitment and selection, onboarding, policy development, review and updates, human resources information management, compensation and benefits, employee relations, organizational and employee development, retention and engagement as well as performance management. The position will also manage the day-to-day operations of the HR Office and is responsible for providing generalist HR guidance and support to managers and staff.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Human Resources Strategy and Planning**
- Regularly scan and assess human resource issues, trends, gaps, and opportunities. Keep Manager, People & Culture abreast of HR issues, trends, gaps, and opportunities that could impact the organization’s operation. Solution focused in addressing issues and gaps or to realize opportunities.
- Identify HR operational plan that supports the achievement of Bissell Centre’s broader strategic and operational goals, with focus on Health and Safety and Employee Wellness.
- Work with Manager, People & Culture and Management Teams to create and maintain an inclusive work environment that demonstrates accountability for cultural competence and diversity.

**Disability Management**
- Implement leave of absence process. Liaise with employees, managers, insurance company regarding gradual return to work and accommodation process.

**Recruitment and Onboarding**
- Onboarding of New Employees Paperwork through the HRIS system.
- Oversee and conduct HR orientation for new employees and ensure new employees undergo the orientation program (including Orientation, Naloxone training and Conflict to Calm).

**Compensation and Benefits Management**
- Ensure proper administration of Bissell Centre’s compensation and benefits plan.
- In coordination with Manager, People & Culture, guide managers in determining proper salary and severance offers.

**Policy and Procedure Administration and Employee Relations Management**
- Support the creation and review of Human Resources polices and processes that are both compliant with relevant employment legislations as well as supportive of the organization’s strategic, operational, and human resources management goals.
- Guide and support managers in employee relations matters (Human Rights, performance management, discipline, termination, employment standards and legislations, work injury case management, classification, and compensation, etc.) and in the preparation of relevant documentations.

**Employee Development and Performance Management Assistance**
- Work with program Managers in the establishment or enhancement of relevant and effective employee training and development programs.
- Maintain up-to-date performance appraisal requirements and work with managers to ensure that they are completed in a timely manner.
- Provide guidance and assistance to managers, as requested, in the completion of performance evaluations and in the handling of performance consults.

**Provide Payroll Support**
- In the absence of the Payroll Coordinator update accurate payroll and personnel records of employees in the Payroll/HR system including transfer, salary adjustment, termination, leave of absence etc.
- In absence of Payroll Coordinator posting payroll Journal in to Accounting Software (each pay period) including departments payroll report and benefit cost.

**Additional Human Resources Management Duties**
- Maintain up-to-date job descriptions and skills inventory.
- Active member of the Bissell Health and Safety Committee. Administer the organizational Health and Safety program and serve as the organization's WCB and OH&S administration contact/liaison.
