**Position Summary**

The Communication Disorders Assistant (CDA) under the direction of the Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP), is accountable for participating in the screening and treatment of adults with swallowing and communication disorders. The Assistant will support the adult clients to help them achieve their maximum potential. Key responsibilities include participating in screenings, carrying out the prescribed treatment program as directed and taught, documenting the clients' progress and reporting outcomes to the Speech Language Pathologist.

**Education Requirements**
- Completion of a recognized Communication Disorders Assistant College Program
- Membership in the Communication Disorders Assistants Association of Canada is an asset

**Mandatory Qualifications**
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Communications Disorder Assistant is preferred
- Effective September 7th, 2021 all applicants must provide proof of two doses for full vaccination against Covid-19 (in the form of watermark receipts from the provincial portal) or provide written proof of a medical or religious reason for not being fully vaccinated as per Organization Policy, Covid-19 Immunization and Management.

- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated ability in working with a variety of patient populations within a hospital setting.
- Demonstrated principles of safe patient handling
- Safety (patient, worker & workplace) is a BCHS Corporate Priority. The successful applicant will demonstrate good stewardship in the identification, reporting and mitigation of unsafe acts or conditions.
