Since 1997, Covenant House Vancouver has provided relentless support for youth experiencing, or at-risk of experiencing, homelessness. We provide support to young people age 16 to 24 who have experienced a wide range of early life and ongoing, complex trauma; including physical, sexual and emotional abuse and neglect. **The Impact The Prospect Development Analyst In The Philanthropy Department Can Make**:
**How You Will Contribute**:

- Work with the Manager, Prospect Development to identify, research, and qualify donors and prospects for Covenant House Vancouver’s major gift fundraising priorities
- Synthesize large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data into high-quality, well-written digestible research documents (profiles, briefing notes, etc.) that will inform fundraising and prospect strategies
- Work with internal database queries and external analytics to generate reports and prospecting lists for Development Team
- Participate in donor strategy sessions and recommend research strategies and donor approaches, based on research materials and knowledge of fundraising best practices
- Monitor media and other alerts on specific themes, issues, and donors/prospects for relevant and timely information to share with Development Officers
- Analyze and enter research information into Raisers Edge in accordance with existing prospect management processes, and handle confidential donor/prospect information in a sensitive and ethical manner
- Maintain awareness of best practices in prospect research and implement new techniques as appropriate

**Who We Are Looking For?**:
**Education and Experience**:

- Post-secondary degree strongly preferred
- One to two years of experience in fundraising, professional research, library sciences, information management or business an asset
- Experience with Raisers Edge NXT and other vendor products (iWave, CharityCAN, etc.) preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

**Competencies**:

- Knowledge of latest research products and ethical data collection strategies an asset
- Solid understanding of fundraising cycles, donor engagement, and donor strategy (individuals, corporations and foundations, community); experience with major gifts programs an asset
- Strong grasp of donor motivations, interests, and philanthropic capacity
- Experience gathering and analyzing data to inform donor segmentation and strategy
- Demonstrated ability to communicate information to drive decisions and actions
- Proficiency with core prospect research methodologies, including capacity analysis, data mining, relationship mapping, and advanced web searching.
- Understanding of privacy laws that affect the collection, storage, and use of donor information
- Ability to exercise discretion, independent thought and analytical judgement when creating or advising on research materials and strategy recommendations
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage a diverse range of assignments and projects with high efficiency, attention to detail, and follow through
