Position Summary:
The McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity (the Initiative) brings together researchers and trainees from across McGill sites to develop innovative solutions for infectious and immune diseases. Its mandate is to support interdisciplinary, translational approaches to complex challenges in infection and immunity. At McGill, the Initiative provides support for research platforms and facilities, interdisciplinary training programs, communication and outreach, as well as coordination of large-scale granting opportunities and philanthropic support.

The Program Manager plays a key role in the development of global partnerships for capacity development and training, facilitating academic discourse and pedagogical developments in infection and immunity education, fostering faculty and student innovations and interests in this field across McGill University. The Program Manager is also involved in supporting the development of cross-disciplinary research collaborations to address the most pressing contemporary issues in infection and immunity. The Program Manager manages and oversees the wide range of activities undertaken by the McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity, both at McGill and abroad and takes initiative where appropriate to innovate and initiate new activities in order to further the infection and immunity agenda at McGill University and abroad. The McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity is part of an Administrative Excellence Centre and works closely with the professionals within the AEC. This position reports to the Associate Director, Administration and works closely and in conjunction with the Co-Directors of the McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Manages the operations of the McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity, creates, and implements standards and systems as required, including record-keeping procedures.- Participates in the development of strategic and organizational plans by brainstorming, assembling related research, and making suggestions. Oversees implementation of short and long-term plans for the McGill Interdisciplinary Initiative in Infection and Immunity.- In conjunction with the AEC, monitors and manages reports for the Initiative’s budget and other grant monies to ensure they remains aligned with the activities of the annual plan.- Oversees the development of partnerships and agreements with international organizations.- Provides administrative support for the development of infection and immunity training programs for faculty and students with the academic content expert.- Liaise with students and student organizations to foster interest and innovation in infection and immunity. Participate in relevant student events.- Fosters and maintains effective working relationships with national and international infection and immunity organizations, as well as other units at McGill University to develop activities related to infection and immunity. Represents the Program at internal/external meeting and attends conferences when necessary develop the profile of the program and establish best practices.-
- Responsible for the development and administration of the seed grant program to distribute program funds to worthy relevant initiatives: define the terms of the competition (with academic lead); advertise the competition; collect and evaluate applicants and provide to academic leads to select successful applicants; facilitate fund payment with assistance from AEC finance team; maintain records for reporting purposes; liaise with affiliated research institutes; complete funding-related reporting for University Advancement (UA) by collecting and maintaining records/ data on fund use.- Plan and oversee the logistics for annual events that currently include a scientific conference and retreat. Involved in the creation of related research meetings and workshops. This includes securing a venue, catering, travel arrangements of speakers, agendas, invitations, conference programs as well as promoting the event through bulletins, correspondence, websites and newsletters.-
- Supervises the work of the Administrative Coordinator, assigning work and ensuring its quality, including communications, organization of events, equipment and supplies purchases, etc.- Manages Program Communications and outreach: participate in brainstorming communications channels and messages to promote the Initiative. Keeps abreast of current developments, milestones, evolution of the project and promote them via McGill internal communications. Plan the use of social media to promote the Initiative. Maintain web page and other media channels.- Collaborate with the AD and or academic leads to brainstorm, research and redevelop medium to large-scale granting opportunities and philanthropic support.
