**Working for the Department/Faculty**

The University of Alberta is home to North America’s only freestanding Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. We provide academic training in Rehabilitation Science, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology. Our researchers lead their field in areas such as spinal cord injury, mental health, robotics, language development, and the impacts of COVID-19.

**Position**

This position will be involved in obtaining, organizing, harmonizing, and managing data from multiple research laboratories from various sources (i.e., databases, Excel spreadsheets, etc.) to assist in data preservation and archiving of spinal cord injury research data on ODC-SCI.org. This includes the development of relevant documentation and metadata information required for data sharing under the Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability (FAIR) guiding principles. These activities may require travel as necessary to complete proposed functions.For quality control, the individual will be required to ‘analyze data quality’, spot and resolve issues and assume accountability for dataset integrity. This will be followed by uploading the acquired data into the ODC-SCI database, including any supporting documents, or spreadsheets. Utilize data expertise to improve future data management and integrity in selected research labs. This includes presentations at workshops to promote data management plans at selected spinal cord injury centres. Manage multiple priorities within an agile framework and set expectations regarding timelines. Provide feedback and suggestions for improvements based on curation results.

- Preserving and sharing data through established repositories while adhering to privacy and confidentiality

**Minimum Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Science, or related scientific, technical, or clinical discipline is required; plus 2-3 years of experience in the spinal cord injury research.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and interact effectively with researchers, principal investigators, and data product end-users to retrieve research data
- Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.
- Meticulous data entry skills, strong attention to detail, and accuracy in processing, integrating, documenting, and reporting large-scale research data sets.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
