Adoption Representative

Reporting to the Director of Animal Care, the Adoption Representative (AR) performs duties to ensure a high level of quality care and humane treatment of all SPCA animals. The AR is responsible to clean and sanitize animal living spaces, feeding, providing enrichment, and monitoring the health and behavior of animals in the care of the Saskatoon SPCA.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
Previous animal husbandry experience is preferred. Knowledge of animal welfare practices related to animal sheltering, adoptions, and euthanasia would be considered an asset.
- Possession of a valid Saskatchewan driver’s license.
- Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration, with the ability to foster the same amongst others.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have a genuine interest in and concern for the overall well-being of animals and demonstrate empathy and compassion for Shelter animals.
- Ability to manage the physical requirements of the position for extended periods of time including restraining animals, lifting, and scrubbing floors, cages, etc.
- Ability to function effectively under challenging circumstances and accept direction.
- Organizational skills to meet time demands and multiple duties.

**Principle Accountabilities**
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures, promoting the Saskatoon SPCA’s mission and values related to animal welfare.
- Work closely and correspond regularly with fellow team members regarding departmental needs and activity, providing relevant updates on a regular basis to shelter management.
- Build and foster relationships with staff, volunteers, and members of the public.
- Providing training, guidance, and instruction to volunteers.
- Regular and ongoing cleaning and disinfecting of the facility, including common areas, kennels, cages, and equipment.
- Housekeeping duties such as cleaning and folding laundry, washing dishes, garbage collection, and removal, etc.
- Provide animals with appropriate housing, food, and clean water.
- Regular monitoring of animals for health and behavior, reporting concerns to Animal Care Attendants
- Report and record maintenance needs or repairs as required.
- Transport animals between various locations internal and external of the shelter.
- Assist in the adoption selection process by providing information regarding specific animals to members of the SPCA team.
- Process and distribute donations.
- Monitor supplies and notify shelter management when products are low.
- Able to handle and restrain animals of multiple species and temperaments safely. Display a commitment to humane and low-stress handling methods.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 20 per week
