**Recruitment & Academic Advising Officer**:
**Primary Purpose**: This position provides leadership for student recruitment initiatives in the College of Agriculture and Bioresources and provides academic advising to prospective and current undergraduate students. In pursuit of these aims, the Recruitment and Academic Advising Officer will participate in the planning and implementation of a strategic recruitment plan, and will provide academic advising and administrative support for current and prospective students.

This position performs administrative functions related to undergraduate Student Services including, but not limited to: processing course overrides, program changes, and major/minor declarations; maintaining and updating student records on DegreeWorks; maintaining and updating student files; maintaining and updating student co-curricular records; sending communications to students via PAWS; assisting with class build and convocation as required.

The individual in this position must demonstrate an ability to build professional relationships with a cross-section of administrators, faculty, students and external stakeholders, including industry representatives and those institutions from which the college receives transfer students. Working in a complex environment, this position requires discretion, tact, professionalism and a commitment to continuous improvement. The work requires attention to quality of work, the ability to understand and accurately communicate college academic programs, and the need to prioritize in order to meet deadlines.

Work outside of normal business hours (evenings and week-ends), travel and flexibility are requirements of this position. Off-campus recruitment activities are most intense during October and November.

- Develop and deliver presentations on AgBio programs options and career opportunities for prospective students
- Work with Teaching, Learning and Student Experience to plan and coordinate recruitment events, campus-wide (Open House, Orientation), in Saskatchewan and beyond;
- Liaise with the external community and educators to communicate college programs
- Continuous improvement of recruitment effectiveness; participation in the evaluation of strategic recruitment initiatives; processes are documented
- Coordinate departmental participation in recruitment and promotional events;
- Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate student ambassadors;
- Ensure that recruitment activities are carried out in a cost-effective manner within the parameters of the annual recruitment budget; working with ConnectionPoint to ensure that expense claims are filed correctly
- Support student experience by liaising with AgBio student groups
- Accurate communication of university and College of Agriculture and Bioresources program regulations and requirements and academic policies, including admission requirements, course selection, major selection, academic counselling, prerequisite checking, schedules, funding and scholarships
- Timely and effective communication with student and parents seeking registration and program assistance; contacting accepted students who have not registered
- Support students as they resolve student issues, making necessary referrals to link students with existing campus services, and working with students experiencing academic difficulty to develop student action plans for success;
- Encourage and empower students to assume responsibility for their academic career;
- Effectively identify, participate in, adopt, implement and monitor best practice student life, advising services and supports;
- Model a high standard of performance and outcomes; ensure positive, diverse and respectful work environments.
- Maintain a commitment to professional participation and development;
- Knowledge of university safety protocols and policies is applied appropriately and communicated to others;
- Participate in the development of printed and digital recruitment material and content
- Collaborate with the Communications & Marketing Specialist on planning and hosting Instagram Live events with students, alumni, and faculty

- Collaborate on developing and implementing activities that support annual and long-term student recruitment strategies; collect information to help measure the impacts of recruitment activities
- Effectively represent the college and communicate goals within the wider university community;
- Identify, assess and manage risk in planning recruitment activities and ongoing operations;

**Education**: A university degree. Three - five years of related experience. Must have demonstrated experience in program management. Knowledge of Usask student support services. Supervisory experience would be an asset.
