The Opportunity

Columbia College is seeking an Institutional Researcher to join our team. The working schedule is **Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (35 hours per week). **The job will be performed four days on campus and one day from home.

**DESCRIPTION**:
The Institutional Researcher develops data collection systems and policies and reports internal and external student-related metrics by providing statistical information, including enrolment data.

The Institutional Researcher plays a crucial role in maintaining data integrity, working closely with key departments such as student records, accounting and finance, IT, recruitment, admissions and marketing, and student services. The role's primary responsibilities, data collection, survey development, analytical research, data preparation, transformation, statistical analysis, and report preparation, all aim to help the College meet its goals and objectives. The role will also play an important role in informing strategic and operational planning, as well as facilities use planning.

Key Responsibilities

**Data Analysis and Reporting**
- Configure student and alumni database systems, and oversee data collection, entry and updates.
- Design and prepare monthly statistical reports and dashboards, both internal and external student-related reports, to monitor key performance indicators.
- Produce compliance and accountability reporting that meets the Degree Quality Assessment Board (DQAB) needs, and aligns with public sector College reporting standards.
- Ensure compliance with the College’s data collection and policies. Where these policies require updating or further development, provide input and recommendations consistent with the needs of the role.
- Oversee ongoing data validation to support institutional data integrity, ensuring quality assurance of reporting and analysis prior to sharing with stakeholders.
- Provide statistical data by conducting quantitative research, analysis, and interpretation.
- Develop qualitative data collection, and provide analysis to help contextualize statistical data and provide better data for decision makers.
- Prioritize ad hoc report requests from internal and external stakeholders in support of the strategic planning, budgeting, assessment, and decision-making processes as required.
- Work cooperatively with stakeholders to determine their data needs and ensure consistent and reliable data is available for analysis and reporting.
- Utilize statistical software for data analysis and stay updated on best practices and technologies to support institutional research and predictive analysis.
- Develop protocols to safeguard data, follow data governance, and provide recommendations for policy development in related areas, including conducting surveys and institutional data use.

**Research**
- Develop and conduct surveys for the purposes of reporting, consistent with Ministry of Post-Secondary expectations for post-secondary institutions.
- Conduct analytical research to assist the College in evaluating educational and service delivery through key performance indicators, framework evaluations, and enrolment metrics.
- Identify opportunities and manage projects to support data-informed decision-making, advancing the College’s goals.
- Provide analytical and research support for student and alumni initiatives, leveraging existing relationships to engage students and alumni and respond to their interests.

**Administration and Planning**
- Develop and implement enrolment plans and projections in collaboration with educational leaders and the Recruitment, Admissions and Marketing (R.A.M.) department.
- Work closely with the Accounting & Finance department, Administration, and R.A.M. to establish enrollment inputs for the annual budget process and long-term budget planning.
- Support strategic enrolment management decisions by providing enrolment projections, in-cycle monitoring and tracking trend analysis.
- Manage the administration, analysis, and reporting of college-wide student surveys and other qualitative student research.
- Additional tasks might be required.
- Two years of professional experience in data analysis and/or visualization.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (including but not limited to VLOOKUP, pivot tables, calculations, basic visualizations, power pivot, and power query).
