The Jewish Community Centre of Greater Vancouver (JCC) is a non-profit community centre whose mission is to provide leadership in cultural, recreational, educational and social activities. While we are the centre and heart of the Jewish community, we are open to all and also serve the community at large in the Oakridge area of Vancouver.

**Highlighted Responsibilities**
- Create a positive and inviting environment for children and parents with friendly and supportive customer service.
- Responsible for the overall planning and implementation of programs, services, and special events, assumes responsibility for coordinating and directing in one or more areas
- Recruits and supervises program instructors and contractors, ensures that all required operating procedures are met, including proper screening of those working with vulnerable populations.
- Create age appropriate programs that incorporate the goals, objectives and philosophy of the Jewish Community Centre with a focus on Jewish culture, values and fun.
- Monitors programs, keeps statistical records and prepares narrative evaluations of programs.
- Promote and model professional standards in daily work.
- Recognize and respect matters of confidentiality.
- Supervise ongoing children’s programs and clubs.
- Respond to members’ and registrants’ concerns and questions in a timely and appropriate manner with the goal of resolving problems.
- Monitor program registrations and ensure instructors have appropriate information to run Children’s and Camp programs.
- Process invoices, class/session transfers, credits and refunds for Children’s and Camp programs.
- Process petty cash and credit card reconciliation as outlined by the accounting department.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate records of information on each child including health, safety and well-being, through medical forms, immunization forms and reports from staff and parents (Camp).
- Ensure new staff human resources and payroll paperwork is correct, complete and submitted by deadlines.
- Create staff contracts using standards set by the human resources department.

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE**
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in recreation management or related field.
- Previous experience in administration or equivalent experience working with children in an educational/recreational setting.
- Clear criminal record check.
- Standard First Aid.
- Class 5 driver’s license preferred

**KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES**
- Considerable knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of a planned community recreation program.
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop, and Web-designing Software.
- Ability to organize, promote and direct others in a variety of group recreational activities.
- Ability to recruit, instruct, provide orientation, assign, and review the work of recreational personnel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with staff members as well as members of the community.
- Ability to work well with teams and collaborate cross-departmentally as well as working independently with moderate to mínimal supervision.
- Generate new ideas.
- Be adaptive and flexible in a high volume environment with frequent interruptions.
- Exercise independent judgement in emergencies and on routine matters.
- Experience and ability in contemporary supervisory techniques including leadership, problem solving and team development.
- Ability to recognize, respect and work well with people’s diversity and individual differences.
- Enforce policy with calmness, firmness and fairness.
- Must be able to work flexible hours in an environment with constant mobility.
