The Children & Camp Program Coordinator is responsible for planning and implementing programs and services for children ages 0-13. Programming must be stimulating and safe while encouraging learning and Jewish principles. This position assumes responsibility for providing guidance and recommendations to community program committees, recruits and instructs part-time staff, schedules, evaluates and reports on programs. The Children & Camp Program Coordinator is also responsible for performing any other assignments as required by the Director of Children & Camp Programs.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

Program Planning and Development:

- Create a positive and inviting environment for children and parents with friendly and supportive customer service.
- Responsible for the overall planning and implementation of programs, services, and special events, assumes responsibility for coordinating and directing in one or more areas
- Recruits and supervises program instructors and contractors, ensures that all required operating procedures are met, including proper screening of those working with vulnerable populations.
- Create age appropriate programs that incorporate the goals, objectives and philosophy of the Jewish Community Centre with a focus on Jewish culture, values and fun.
- Monitors programs, keeps statistical records and prepares narrative evaluations of programs.
- Maintains a variety of operating, and administrative records, provides cost and revenue estimates for a segment of the Community Centre recreation programs and assists in overseeing collection and accounting for admissions and fees for same.
- Work collaboratively with marketing team to produce promotional materials.
- Is current with trends, issues and advocacy in recreation programming, services, and special events
- Evaluate programs on a seasonal basis.
- Coordinate birthday parties by managing rental contracts, room bookings, food and supply orders and hire host and specialist for the parties.
- Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

Leadership
- Promote and model professional standards in daily work.
- Recognize and respect matters of confidentiality.
- Supervise ongoing children’s programs and clubs.

Administrative Duties:

- Respond to members’ and registrants’ concerns and questions in a timely and appropriate manner with the goal of resolving problems.
- Monitor program registrations and ensure instructors have appropriate information to run Children’s and Camp programs.
- Process invoices, class/session transfers, credits and refunds for Children’s and Camp programs.
- Process petty cash and credit card reconciliation as outlined by the accounting department.
- Maintain accurate and appropriate records of information on each child including health, safety and well-being, through medical forms, immunization forms and reports from staff and parents (Camp).
- Ensure new staff human resources and payroll paperwork is correct, complete and submitted by deadlines.
- Create staff contracts using standards set by the human resources department.
- Administer and ensure accuracy of payroll for Children & Camp Department staff.
- Assist department Director with the recruitment process including coordinating and participating in interviews.
- Work within the general mission, vision and values of the JCC. Participate in planning staff training for Camp.
- Purchase departmental supplies as needed.

**EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE**
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in recreation management or related field.
- Previous experience in administration or equivalent experience working with children in an educational/recreational setting.
- Clear criminal record check.
- Standard First Aid.
- Class 5 driver’s license preferred

**KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES**
- Considerable knowledge of the philosophy and objectives of a planned community recreation program.
- Knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Photoshop, and Web-designing Software.
- Ability to organize, promote and direct others in a variety of group recreational activities.
- Ability to recruit, instruct, provide orientation, assign, and review the work of recreational personnel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with staff members as well as members of the community.
- Ability to work well with teams and collaborate cross-departmentally as well as working independently with moderate to mínimal supervision.
- Skill in the use of recreational equipment and the performance of various recreational activities.
- Ability to identify priorities, set goals, analyze information and provide solutions.
- Create and maintain good working relationships with co-workers and outside organizations.
