Responsibilities:

The Summer Camp Coordinator is responsible for the daily operations of the camp, including, but not limited to:

  • Plan, book and implement activities and experiences for individual and group needs of all children within a consistent child-centered program environment.
  • Conduct staff interviews in conjunction with the Childcare Coordinator and Childcare Manager.
  • Facilitate training and ongoing development for the summer camp team members.
  • Create and distribute staff schedules for each 8 weeks of Summer Camp.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with employees, families, external consultants (e.g., Supported Child Development), and other staff in the organization (e.g. fleet manager for bus bookings).
  • Coordinate, monitor and rolemodel the provision of a nurturing, inclusive and developmentally appropriate Camp program to meet the needs of schoolaged children in a group setting within a safe and healthy environment.
  • Follow policies and procedures of Parkgate Society, North Vancouver Recreation and Culture and the Childcare department.
  • Accurately complete and deliver administrative tasks in a timely manner including but not limited to staff scheduling, incident reports, files, inventory, and supply ordering.
  • Follow licensing regulations and Parkgate Society's policy/procedures. (This position will be directly responsible for ensuring that childcare licensing standards and regulations are always met.)
  • Accountable for the program budget and assisting with registration.

Required Qualifications:

  • Responsible Adult certificate/training; preference given to those with a higher level of training in child development or related field.
  • Minimum three years' experience in a similar or related environment, including at least one year of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of Childcare Licencing Regulations.
  • Understanding and solid experience supporting children with specific inclusion needs.
  • A current, approved first aid certificate (minimum 8hour course).
  • Excellent communication, writing, planning, computer skills and problemsolving abilities.
  • A clear criminal record check is required.

Contract Details:

Salary Range: $ $28.00 per hour (commensurate with qualifications & experience).

Employment:

  • This position works part time (approx. 20 hours per week) during May and June.
  • This position moves to 40 hours per week during July and August.

Contract date:May 1st to August 30th 202
  • Vacation pay as a percentage of wages will be paid out on each pay cheque.
