**Payroll and Benefits Specialist - Bilingual**

**Battlefield Equipment Rentals** (a division of _**Toromont Industries Ltd**_.), is currently seeking individual for our **Stoney Creek** location for the following challenging opportunity.

To drive continued success in this role, we are seeking a committed, skilled, and customer-focused individual to join our team as a **Bilingual Payroll and Benefits Specialist** with part-time remote work options available in accordance with our current Work from Home policy.

The ability to fluently read, write and speak French is a major key requirement for this position in order to meet the legislated requirements of the Quebec province, and to ensure the needs of our French-speaking employees and customers are met.

**Payroll Responsibilities**:

- Accurately and efficiently, administer the full-cycle payroll process for Canadian employees through UKG (Ultipro) Payroll and HRIS system, and/or other systems where necessary, while also ensuring compliance with all governmental regulations.
- Prepare adjustments and entries in the system for all employment offers, bonus payments, increases, and other employee transactions.
- Maintain and deliver payroll reports. Compiling and summarizing payroll information for management reports on a required basis.
- Generate and assist with regular weekly, biweekly, and annual payroll remittances and filings with UKG.
- Complete annual pension regulatory audits, reports and information submission to the insurance companies and government agencies.
- Complete annual employee worker’s compensation census and audit for employees where required.
- Provide customer service to all employees regarding all payroll inquiries, researching and troubleshooting all related issues.
- Maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll transactions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements and company policies and procedures.
- Assist with timesheet reconciliation, for PTO such as vacation, float, and sick leave tracking and notify management of non-compliance.
- Prepare final pay of terminated employees, including outstanding vacation accrual and prepare records of employment. Communicate the final pay and record of employment to the departing employee.
- Prepare garnishments and provide necessary documentation to courts or government agencies and accounting.
- Maintain in-depth understanding of tax compliance and reporting requirements such as ROE’s and year-end T4’s and others as necessary.
- Keep up-to-date on various pay laws in all areas where we have employees.
- Manage administration and adjustments related to employee benefits plans.
- Work with the finance team to ensure payroll journals are reflected correctly in the SRM system.
- Other such work that may be assigned from time to time.

**Qualifications**:

- College/University Degree in related field.
- PCP designation preferred.
- 3 to 5 years’ payroll experience: preferably QC payroll
- Experience with UKG (Ultimate Software - ULTIPRO) is highly preferred and considered an asset.
- Strong technical proficiency in MS Office Suite with strong excel skills, including VLOOKUP.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and practice discretion in interactions and dealings with others.
- Good communication skills; Bilingual in English and French, both verbal and written are required.
- Must be a team player with flexible work style and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills in dealing with internal and external people.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines while remaining well organized.
