**SCOPE**
Reporting to the Director, Strategic Communications, University Communications Services (UCS) with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Science or designate, the incumbent is responsible for enhancing the visibility of the Faculty of Arts and Science and of its faculty members, staff, alumni, and students to key internal and external constituencies. The incumbent acts as liaison between the Faculty and University Communications Services and leads the strategic development of communications. Projects under the incumbent’s leadership include the development of communications strategies in multiple channels, writing news items and articles, and the maintenance of effective relationships with members of the Faculty, the Concordia community, current and potential partners, specialized media, and the general public. The incumbent will ensure that the work supports the University’s strategic priorities and brand.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- In consultation with key stakeholders, develop and oversee the implementation of internal and external communications plans, briefs and project plans in support of Faculty initiatives, projects and goals.
- Develop and oversee the production of materials and content, including but not limited to web, e-newsletters, videos, social media, digital and print content in consultation with University stakeholders. Oversee project timelines and production schedules. Tasks include but are not limited to advising, planning, writing, updating web content, editing and proofreading in English and French, fact-checking, interviewing, reviewing, researching info, liaising with colleagues, and coordinating projects.
- Oversee the creation of content or write copy in English and in French for a variety of media, platforms, materials and audiences, positioning Concordia in a positive light while ensuring all content meets brand guidelines, communications best practices and is in line with Concordia’s priorities and strategic directions.
- Provide strategic counsel in cross-collaborative projects targeting internal and external audiences. Represent UCS on cross-functional teams, attend planning and strategy meetings, participate in the development and execution of cross-collaborative and complex projects.
- Hire, train, assign work, monitor, evaluate, and provide professional development opportunities to unit personnel.
- Collaborate with recruitment staff, particularly on branding and positioning in recruitment content.
- Collaborate with advancement and alumni officers in planning communications initiatives and assigning / executing responsibilities as needed.
- Lead the execution of all communications for the Dean, such as speeches, press releases and other official Faculty communications; organizes preparatory material for media interviews.
- Lead, plan, and execute the communications aspects of events that promote and enhance the Faculty’s and its academic and research units public profile.
- Develop measures for evaluating the effectiveness of communications strategies and tactics. Use existing data to inform communications strategies. Conduct competitive and comparative analysis, develop benchmarks, and identify best communications practices.
- Perform other duties as required by the Director, Strategic Communications.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor's Degree in a field related to the primary responsibilities and four to seven years of relevant experience, with a minimum of two years experience in managing staff.
- Very good knowledge (Level 5) of spoken and written English and French, to write fluently and persuasively on sensitive and complex topics.
- Demonstrated experience working with senior-level decision-makers.
- Demonstrated track-record in the elaboration and execution of a strategic communications plan using judgement.
