The Hotel Accounting Clerk will contribute to the overall success of Coast Hotels by providing clerical and data entry support to Finance & Accounting. This role is based at Coast Coal Harbour Vancouver Hotel by APA and reports to the centralized accounting department at the Corporate Office in Vancouver, BC.

**Responsibilities**:

- Handles administrative duties in relation to the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions at the hotel
- Follows established procedures and policies within the Finance & Accounting department when completing tasks
- Processes accounts which may include collections, billing, posting of payments including cash, cheques, EFTs, and credit cards in a timely manner
- Counts and reconciles cash and floats and prepares due backs to Ambassadors and bank deposits
- Participates in inventory management and controls
- Maintains files, records and statements
- Reconciles specific accounts and any other assigned accounts daily/weekly
- Researches and resolves payment discrepancies and brings abnormal differences to the manager's attention
- Assists the manager in preparation of monthly financial statements and other end of the month duties
- Verifies that all charges, taxes, calculations and extensions of each invoice is accurate and in compliance with the original contract and the sales and settlements are posted
- Responds to basic internal / external (guest) inquiries
- Inputs data into the appropriate database
- Produces statistics and reports on the data as per standard formats
- Other duties as required

Skills/Knowledge/Experience
- Secondary School Diploma
- Post-secondary education in the accounting field an asset
- 1 to 2 years of related work experience
- Hotel experience an asset
- Knowledge of basic A/R and A/P functions
- Advanced communication and interpersonal skills
- Technical aptitude
- Attention to detail
- Some experience in the use of computerized spreadsheets and word processing
- Ability to identify and solve problems
- Strong phone manner/etiquette
- Some experience with conflict resolution an asset
- Exemplifies Coast's Core Values and enjoys working in a culture of accountability
