**About Free To Be**
Free To Be is a research-backed, media literacy and positive body image program tailored for youth in grades five to seven. Our mission is to empower boys and girls to reach their full potential by developing media literacy skills, cultivating healthy body image, building resilience to social pressures that impact body image, and fostering a positive social environment.
**Position Summary**
We are looking for passionate and enthusiastic Volunteer Facilitators to deliver Free To Be’s workshops in middle school classrooms. As a facilitator, you will guide discussions and activities that help young people understand media influences, encourage self-acceptance, and support them in building a healthy and resilient self-image. This role is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting impact on youth by promoting a positive body image and media literacy.
**Responsibilities**
- Deliver Free To Be’s body positivity and media literacy workshops to elementary and middle school students.
- Engage students through discussion, interactive activities, and multimedia resources to help them critically analyze media and social influences on body image.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment that encourages students to express themselves openly.
- Facilitate group activities that build confidence, resilience, and teamwork among students.
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to align workshop delivery with school guidelines and culture.
- Provide feedback to the Program Coordinator on session effectiveness and student engagement.
**Requirements**:
- Passion for youth education and promoting positive body image.
- Teaching or counselling background required.
- Experience working with youth, preferably in an educational or mentorship setting.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to adapt to various classroom dynamics.
- Understanding of or willingness to learn about media literacy, body image issues, and the impact of social pressures on youth.
- Ability to commit to at least 8 hours/week, ideally with flexibility for occasional school hours.
