**Highlights of this opportunity**:
As a member of the Mentorship and Kinnections team, the **Youth and Volunteer Navigator**will play a pivotal role in supporting youth aged 12-18 by fostering meaningful connections with volunteer mentors. This position involves collaborating with program managers to screen potential mentors and facilitate successful matches for youth in both programs. Key responsibilities include conducting intake meetings with youth and their legal guardians, providing one-on-one support to youth and mentors, organizing and leading monthly group activities and mentor workshops, and offering ongoing follow-up support to maintain strong mentorship relationships. Additionally, you will participate in match planning meetings, assist with match closures when needed, connect youth to services within UNYA and the broader community, and handle administrative tasks such as scheduling, activity bookings, and managing the distribution of donated tickets to volunteer mentors.

This role balances administrative duties during the first half of the shift, with the remaining hours focused on meeting youth, intakes and match meeting in the community. **The standard hours are Monday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility required to accommodate 2-3 evening group activities or mentor workshops which can run from about 2-10pm.**

**Qualifications and Conditions**:

- **Educational Background**: Diploma in a related human/social service field or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- **Experience**: 2 year of recent related experience working with Indigenous youth and families or an equivalent combination of education, training, and lived experience.
- **Cultural Knowledge**: Understanding of the family and social issues faced by Indigenous youth today, including the generational impacts of the residential school system on families and communities.
- **Background Check**: Completion of a criminal record check satisfactory to UNYA
- **Certifications**: First Aid and Food Safe Level 1 certificates are an asset, though paid training is available upon hire.
- **Driving**: Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with own reliable car with 3 million liability insurance

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
1. **Youth Intake Meetings**: Facilitate intake processes for new youth joining the program working with youth and their legal guardian to discuss the program requirements and sign intake forms.
- **Match meeting**: Facilitating match meeting between screened volunteer and youth, ensuring that the match is suitable for both the youth and volunteer mentor.
- **Match support**: Offer ongoing support to volunteer mentor to ensure they are meeting the needs of the youth matches to maintain strong connections.

4. **Build Rapport with Youth**: Engage with youth to establish trust and understanding, fostering a safe and supportive environment.
