**Position Summary**
Reporting to the Director, the Eighth Fire, the Indigenous Events Administrator is responsible for coordinating and managing a variety of events, gatherings, and initiatives that promote and celebrate Indigenous cultures, traditions, and contributions to the college community. This role will support the implementation of the Indigenous Strategic Framework, especially through the organizing and co-hosting of “meaningful Indigenous cultural events and traditional ceremonies to heighten awareness of Indigenous history, culture and tradition” (Indigenous Strategic Framework).
The Indigenous Events Administrator works closely with the Innovation, Inclusion, Reconciliation & Healing (IIRH) team, faculty, staff, and community partners to create inclusive and engaging events that enhance the educational experience for all members of the Centennial College community.
The incumbent manages the reception area of the newly created office and acts as the first point of contact for students, staff, faculty, and other community members. They support the administrative operations of the department, including finance obligations (ex. budgets and expenses). The incumbent also provides executive assistance and support to the Director to support execution of their portfolio requirements.**

- Coordinate and enable commitments towards truth and reconciliation, decolonization, and Indigenization (as per the vision and actions in the College’s Indigenization Strategy), while examining and re-positioning existing practices.

Exploring and Creating
- Explore develop, define and assess innovative and promising practices for reconciliation, decolonization, and Indigenization

Sharing and Uplifting
- Evaluate effectiveness and refine practices towards sharing and embedding enhanced or deepened practices towards reconciliation and with respect to decolonization and Indigenization within and outside of the College

Unlearning and Learning
- Create and facilitate transformative learning and development opportunities (within the College community and with invited partners) to deepen reconciliation and enable decolonization and Indigenization

Relational Obligations
- Engage and nurture relationships with partners (notably the AEC, AESC, and IPEC), Indigenous community members, and citizens of Indigenous nations and to provide guidance and mobilization for Centre functions

In particular, Indigenous Events Administrator is a key appointment in the actualization of all 5 Pillars of the Indigenous Strategic Framework (Link to Indigenous Strategic Framework) and in meeting the commitments to Indigenize the College as set out in the most recent Book of Commitments (Link to Book of Commitments).
**Responsibilities**
- Develop, plan, and execute Indigenous-centered events, gatherings, and initiatives in collaboration with the Indigenous Reconciliation & Healing (the Eighth Fire) department and other relevant partners.
- Coordinate event logistics, including scheduling, venue selection, catering, audio-visual equipment, and transportation.
- Develop and manage event and departmental budgets, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and expenses are tracked and reported.
- Identify potential funding opportunities and assist with grant writing and fundraising efforts as needed.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with event planning and execution, ensuring compliance with college policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
