**York Region Centre for Community Safety (YRCCS) is a co-located, coordinated single access point for services within York Region to meet the needs of those affected by intimate partner violence/domestic violence/sexual violence and abuse through an integrated, holistic access to services.**
**Job Overview**:
The Program Coordinator serves as a first point of contact for survivors looking to access services and supports and assists in the operation of the administrative functions of the agency. The Program Coordinator will support staff and management in increasing efficiency in service delivery and agency operation.
**Major Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Serve as first point of contact for survivors and agency enquiries.
- Develop safety plans tailored to service users’ unique needs**, **book and confirm appointments, schedule on-site programs and services, maintain internal waitlists, respond to enquiries for specific programs and workshops.
- Assist with completion of feedback surveys.
- Organize translation and interpretation services for service users when required.
- Organize and host professional development sessions for community partners on a scheduled basis.
- Assist in organizing emergency preparedness and track daily on-site visits.
- Coordinate and conduct interviews for student placements and volunteers.
- Coordinate and attend special events and conduct community outreach for the organization.
- Support administrative tasks related to the day-to-day operations of the office, including, but not limited to: reception (call log), courier and surface mail administration, trouble-shooting for agency service providers such as photocopier, internet, telephone, etc., managing inventory of office/kitchen supplies, Audio Visual needs, catering and supporting program (group sessions, child minding requests), and events administration.
- Provide facility coordination such as liaising with Building Maintenance Department regarding concerns, work orders and maintenance reports and organize Health and Safety initiatives.
- Prepare and produce status reports, office reports, correspondence, memos, presentations, hand-outs, and all other forms.
- Regularly update website and social media accounts and create and disseminate agency newsletter and announcements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Education**
- University degree or diploma in the area of social work or related discipline.
- Technologically proficient (Windows, Office Suite: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Internet, databases).
**Experience**
- Minimum **two** years related experience in a social services setting working with diverse populations, including low-income individuals and those from various cultural and racialized backgrounds utilizing an anti-racist, anti-oppressive framework.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice for survivors of intimate partner/domestic violence, family violence and human trafficking.
**Skills and Abilities**
- Excellent assessment and organizational skills including ability to stay organized and use a systematic approach to information management.
- Understanding of social work ethics, and professional boundaries; with the ability to maintain professionalism with service users.
- A thorough understanding of the concerns and needs of individuals who are experiencing violence and the ability to work effectively with them.
- Knowledge of crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques, with ability to identify and address individuals with suicidal ideation.
- Strong written and verbal communication, customer service and interpersonal skills.
- The skills and patience to work under pressure while maintaining a calm and patient manner.
- Ability to interact effectively with service users, volunteers, community members and agency personnel.
- The ability to work independently and with minimum supervision.
- Ability to develop and regularly practice healthy self-care techniques.
- Ability to think strategically, plan, execute, multi-task and problem solve.
- A good understanding of the social services available in York Region and how to access them.
- Knowledge of a second language is an asset but is not required.
**Requirements**:
- A satisfactory and current Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check).
- Three references, ideally in relation to experience in the social service sector.
- Travel to satellite locations is required.
**Working Conditions**:
This is a full-time on-siteposition that is scheduled for 5 days/week primarily within an office environment and requires the ability to lift up to 15kg occasionally. Occasional evening and weekend work based upon service user availability or special events. This position includes benefits, sick days, and 3 weeks vacation. Orientation and training sessions will be provided.
**Salary**: $43,680.00 per year
Schedule:
