YMCA Employment and Community Programs provide a variety of employment, counselling, outreach, intervention, training and newcomer programs to youth and adults throughout the GTA. For decades the YMCA of Greater Toronto has been a leader in supporting the settlement and integration of newcomers to the GTA. As an extension of its mandate, it launched a new initiative, providing support to newcomers in advance of their arrival to Canada.

Next Stop Canada is an online, Pre-arrival settlement service funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada. This platform will help participants to prepare for immigration and will create a direct link to settlement services in Canada including the YMCA of Greater Toronto’s Newcomer Settlement Programs. It offers youth and adult immigrants (ages 12+) personalized information, one-on-one mentorship and settlement resources to successfully prepare for life in Canada.

Next Stop Canada’s youth services feature youth-specific resources, matched mentorship and personalized referrals to Pre-arrival youth ages 12 to 19. Online resources include e-learning courses, webinars, mentor blogs, videos, links and much more Pre-arrival youth can also chat and message their mentors and specialists to further receive the support and reassurance they need to easily transition into their new life in Canada. The Next Stop Canada Youth Specialist will provide overseas immigrant youth with the information necessary to help them make informed decisions about their settlement in Canada and to obtain better understanding of life in Canada. The Specialist will help with the development of online resources and tools to deliver settlement information and orientation. The Specialist will also lead and advise a group of local, established newcomer youth mentors who are also responsible for supporting Pre-arrival youth.

**In this role, you will**:

- Conduct Pre-arrival online Needs Assessment and Referral. The online Need Assessment and Referral is a collaborative process involving the client, which focus on his/her multidimensional preliminary needs.
- Assist in the design, facilitation and maintenance of online content including e-learning courses, webinars, blogs, vlogs, links, and live-chat feature.
- Assist in maintaining the online Information Management System: research, collection and organization of settlement-related information ensuring that information is relevant, accurate and up-to-date.
- Develop and facilitate online information sessions and webinars; maintains and enhances existing community information network.
- Connect and communicate with Pre-arrival youth to ensure needs are met and referrals are made.
- Work closely with and provide support to the Manager and Team leader in order to achieve quality, fiscal and program targets; maintains and submits statistical and progress reports.
- Work with the Team leader to troubleshoot technical issues, minimize site interruption, and optimize site responsiveness.
- Recruit, train, and advise newcomer youth mentors to ensure they deliver quality mentorship to Pre-arrival youth.
- Conduct local and global outreach to raise program awareness and increase client registration.
- Develop and maintain partnership amongst local and international partners to establish referral mechanisms.
- Create flyers, newsletters, and other outreach materials as required.
- Support the management of social media communication via Facebook and Twitter.
- Handle multiple projects at the same time; shows ability to work well as part of a team in a collaborative environment; shows excellent attention to detail and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and to thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information and compliance with YMCA and funder privacy policies.
- Remain alert to immigration, newcomer and youth trends and uses this information to inform content development and improvement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**You bring**:

- University Degree or Community College Diploma in related field or equivalent training/work experience.
- Minimum 1-year experience working with newcomers, providing settlement information and referral
- Experience working with teens or young adults is a requirement.
- Demonstrates knowledge of settlement and immigration barriers, trends, resources and services specifically pertaining to youth.
- Some understanding of best practices for online usability, accessibility and safety.
- Experience working with content management systems
