**INTRODUCTION**

Outside Looking In is currently hiring multiple Community Coordinators to join our team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to travel to various Indigenous communities and oversee the OLI Dance Program. As a Community Coordinator at OLI, you will be an integral part of our inclusive organization, dedicated to providing art (dance) educational programs to Indigenous youth all across Canada. From fly-in reserves to urban areas, our programs aim to empower and inspire these young individuals.

In collaboration with the Programs Team, you will work closely to provide regular updates on program delivery and progress. By effectively coordinating with the team, you will contribute to the smooth execution and ongoing success of our programs.

**POSITION OVERVIEW**

**TRAVEL AND PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION**

A substantial 80% of this exhilarating role involves embarking on journeys across Canada, deploying our dynamic OLI Dance program to diverse Indigenous communities. As part of the vivacious OLI Hype Team, which consists of a Community Coordinator and a Choreographer, you can anticipate two to three immersive trips per month, each lasting five captivating days.

The peak travel seasons span September to November and March to April. As a Community Coordinator, you'll have the thrilling opportunity to manage 4-5 vibrant communities throughout the academic year. Regular check-ins during **LAUNCH**, **MID-YEAR**, and **PRE-CAMP** ensure support according to each community's specific needs.

**LAUNCH (September-December)**
- Embark on trips to new and returning communities, sparking excitement and interest in the OLI program.
- Familiarize yourself with the unique characteristics of the community and its residents.
- Establish a fun yet safe environment for youth to engage in our dance program.
- Coordinate introductory teacher meetings to discuss OLI and seek volunteer support.
- Identify potential partners within the community to assist with program delivery.
- Arrange a principal meeting to discuss the credit system with the OLI Community Team and Senior PM.
- Gather relevant contact info, media and signed liability forms.
- Lead discussions on the core aspects of the OLI Dance Program: Academics, Attendance, Behaviour, and Choreography.
- Participate in and lead warmups and icebreakers.
- Amplify our reach through engaging social media content on OLI's Instagram.
- Record community events and interviews throughout the year for future use.

**MID-YEAR CHECK (January-February)**:

- Monitor the program's execution, ensuring responsiveness to community needs and interests.
- Deliver consistent, positive, and empowering support to stakeholders running our program daily.
- Schedule weekly check-ins with Community Coordinators to monitor key metrics like attendance and participation.
- Collaborate closely with youth participants, identifying any concerns and outlining solutions.
- Organize a parent meeting to discuss the youth’s progress in the dance program.
- Maintain constant communication with the Senior PM regarding program implementation updates.

**PRE-CAMP (March-April)**:

- Work closely with the choreographer and community coordinator to prepare for the trip to Toronto.
- Assist with community flight bookings and travel arrangements.
- Organize a Chaperone Orientation and Parent Meeting to discuss travel, camp and OLI Show details.

**OLI CAMP/SHOW (2 weeks of May)**:

- Collaborate with camp duties as outlined by the Senior Program Manager or Camp Lead.
- Lend support to OLI Show duties as instructed by the Production Manager when necessary.

**POST-SHOW (end of May - June)**:

- Contribute to post-show activities, including report cards, surveys, appreciation mail-outs, and debrief meetings.
- Provide constructive feedback and innovative ideas for enhancing the program's future implementation.

**KEY DETAILS**:*
- Type: Full-time with a three-month probation period.

- Reports to: Junior Program Manager
- Start Date: August 1, 2023
- Location: Hybrid. All applicants must have access to a stable internet connection and a private working space
- Travel: Frequent travel (80%) to remote communities within Canada.
- Salary: $37,000 - $45,000 (Salary is negotiable depending on years of experience)

- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy.
- Familiar with policies and best practices for working with youth, volunteers, artists and staff.
- Dance training or teaching background is considered
