**Position description**:
**Course Description and Learning outcomes**:
This course introduces students to the principal laws applicable to the Canadian and, in particular, the Quebec work setting. Topics will include the Quebec Labour Standards Act and Labour Code;the employee-employer relationship; employment contracts; non-discrimination in the workplace; and how disputes and grievances are settled.

By the end of this course, students should be able to:

- Identify the essential elements of individual and collective contracts of employment, as well as the rules applicatble thereto;
- Contribute to the establishment of a workplace that adheres to Quebec Labour legislation.

**Qualifications and assets**:

- **Education: L**aw degree (BCL, LL.B, JD, LL.M), or equivalent
- **Industry experience**:5+ years of law practice with demonstrated experience in Canadian and Quebec labour legislation, or equivalent
- **Teaching experience**: 3 years of relevant teaching experience or equivalent
- **Assets**:Experience in the competency-based approach to teaching and learning.

Note: this is a coordinated course. The course coordinator will be selecting the pedagogical materials to be used.
