**Responsibilities**:

- Install and/or modify and/or maintain:

- HVAC system components
- lighting system components
- cooking and refrigeration appliances
- humidification systems
- plumbing system components.
- Inspect and maintain fans, belts, pulleys, filters, motors, and compressors.
- Maintain accurate records of all test results and inspection results as well as maintenance procedures electronically.
- Operate DDC (direct digital control) or BMS ("building management systems)
- Change Filters in air handling units, exhaust fans, fan coils, compressed air system, closed loop water systems, water treatment system.
- Conducting water test for the boilers, condensate tanks, deaerator, and softener following the water treatment company step by step procedure.Work on equipment such as boilers, chillers, cooling towers, etc.
- Performing minor carpentry, plumbing and cleaning tasks
- Cleaning and housekeeping of mechanical and electrical rooms, maintenance shop, and central utility plant, transporting material and equipment
- Provide assistance to other trades (plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, grounds)
- Offer general assistance to the campus community by providing directions or supporting individuals and departments.
- Unplug sinks, toilets, floor drains and roof drains, fix leaking taps, clean grease traps.
- Replace broken ceiling tiles, hang pictures, white boards, signs and festivity decoration.
- Perform Periodic checks on all equipment and systems to ensure they are up to standards.
- Other duties as required

**Requirements**:

- Building Operator “A” certificate or Class 5 Steam Engineer, or equivalent certification
- Building Operator "B", Plumber, gas fitter, boilermaker ticket holders will be considered
- minimum of 5 years of experience in a related position
- Working knowledge of:

- HVAC systems and controls
- DDC control systems
- cooking, heating, and refrigeration appliances.
- National and Alberta building, refrigeration, electrical, and heating codes
- lighting, lighting control systems, ballasts, and other associated components.
- Luminaire Technician Certificate or HVAC Specialist Certificate Preferred

**Please note**:

- This position is often required to work outside and working at heights attending rooftop equipment.
- Exposure to dust, wind and extreme temperatures.
- Interior work in wet, hot, humid, and noisy environments
- Physically demands of position:

- Lifting/carrying: Regularly, 10kg (25lbs), Often over 20kg
- Pushing/Pulling: Regularly, distributing materials, adjusting heavy equipment
- Climbing: Regularly, stairs and ladders
- Reaching: Regularly, both high and low, awkward angle/position, equipment maintenance/inspection
- Walking, Continuously
- 4.1 acres and 10 buildings.
