**Job Description**:
In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) patient safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Director, Employee Records, Work Design & Compensation, the Manager, Employee Records provides leadership, direction and support necessary to ensure the provision of quality services in the key areas of Employee Data and File management. Provides a coordinated and consistent approach to the delivery of employee transactional services, related to the employment record. Fosters and influences relationships with clients, other Island Health departments including partners in the People and Finance portfolios, and external stakeholders such as HEABC.

Identifies and communicates service needs to the Director, develops and recommends budgets, monitors expenditures, evaluates and reports on variances, and recommends and implements remedial action.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelors' degree in a related discipline, plus seven (7) years of related experience in a leadership role, preferably in a health care setting.

**Skills And Abilities**:

- Demonstrated ability to approach issues with a systems view, finding creative and proactive ways to improve service.
- Excellent conflict resolution and team building skills and ability to negotiate successful settlement of disputes.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to motivate, delegate and operate effectively in both structured and unstructured situations.
- Extensive knowledge of collective agreements, benefits and pension plans, classification/compensation plans, and applicable legislation.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
