Job Summary

A highly motivated and organized Research Project Coordinator is needed for the Evaluating Prescribed Safer Supply Among Formerly Incarcerated Persons During an Overdose Public Health Emergency project to assist with and support general project logistics, community engagement, and guide all research activities, including the development of data collection processes, data collection, and analysis, and integrated Knowledge Translation. The project team fosters mutual and reciprocal learning, mobilizing the strengths and resources of all members toward generating new health knowledge relevant to people and communities impacted by the criminal justice system and the overdose crisis, and inspiring social action to improve the health and wellness of individuals impacted by the criminal justice system. As such, having people with lived experience of incarceration on our team is invaluable; their perspectives are a priority in shaping the outcomes of our work.

This role supports our community-based, participatory, and strengths-based aims to reframe the criminal justice system to improve health and justice for (and with) peoples disproportionately affected by current systems.

This role will provide:

- Contributions to the development and expansion of the project’s network through engagement with Peer Leaders, Indigenous Elders, academics, and community members.
- Support the development of research and evaluation at the intersections of health and justice.
- Contribution to research and data collection processes across projects and processes.
- Develops iterative Knowledge Mobilization across project studies.
- Management of staff

Organizational Status

This position is within the Evaluating Prescribed Safer Supply Among Formerly Incarcerated Persons During an Overdose Public Health Emergency project, which operates out of the Critical Research in Health and Health Inequities (CRiHHI), in the School of Nursing, University of British Columbia. This peer researcher position will report to the project's co-Leads, Dr. Helen Brown (CRiHHI) and Dr. Amanda Slaunwhite (BCCDC).

Work Performed

The Project Coordinator will work closely with and report to Dr. Helen Brown and Dr. Amanda Slaunwhite. Our project coordinator is expected to contribute to the overall success of the project by providing support in:

- Oversees the development and production of high-quality reports and other Knowledge Mobilization outputs on operational progress aimed at specific partnership audiences.
- Coordinates grant reporting, through outcomes and budget management.
- Oversees data collection through the development and production of research documents, such as consent forms, photo release forms, interview guides, and other relevant documents.
- Develops diverse Knowledge Translation and dissemination strategies.
- Performs complex technical tasks, such as website and social media content management.
- Coordinates and liaises with co-Investigators and the wider network of academics and community members.
- Designs, modifies and uses technically advanced procedures and conducts complex analysis and interpretation
- Co-develops data collection, analysis, and Knowledge Translation process founded in participatory methods.
- Provides meeting agendas to the team and taking meeting minutes.
- Organizing stakeholder meetings and the corresponding logistics.
- Communicating updates and action items verbally and/or in writing.
- Coordinates training workshops for the project team.
- Liaises with project affiliates for collaborative workshops, meetings, and projects.
- Develops operating procedures and makes recommendation on workflow improvements.
- Oversees the progress of projects and participates in complex research activities.
- Supervises, schedules and trains staff and may make recommendations with respect to hiring and providing input into staff performance.
- Manages and oversees the daily operations and finances of the project, including responsibility for budget, large purchase recommendations, inventory, forecasting and maintenance of financial reports, administration of staff.
