**Real Estate Technician - Administration**
The incumbent will:
- Negotiate and assist with the management of site lease agreements, encroachment agreements, tenancy agreements, license agreements, permissions to enter and offers to lease
- Provide support to the Leasing Specialist with leasing of office and other space for Regional Departments
- Assist with the provisions of property management services for Regionally owned tenanted properties to ensure obligations are met in accordance with the Tenant Protection Act
- Ensure rental payments from tenants are up to date in accordance with terms of lease agreements
- Ensure assessment figures and Grants in Lieu/realty taxes payable by the Region are accurate and take corrective action as required
- Resolve issues between departmental, landlords, tenants and contacts
- Co-ordinate road closures and sales of surplus lands to ensure that procedures are in accordance with Regional policies and Municipal Act requirements
- Investigate and respond to inquires regarding Land Titles Applications
- Create agreements for signature by Applicant/Landlord for execution by the Regional Chair and Regional Clerk
- Prepare reports to Works Committee and Council, and correspondence to Landlords, Tenants and other Departments and Agencies
- Calculate costs for budget purposes
- Investigate and respond to inquiries from local municipalities, outside agencies and the general public
The successful applicant will possess:
- A two-year post-secondary diploma in Business Administration, Legal Administration, or a related discipline
- A minimum of two years work experience related to the responsibilities above
- Knowledge of the Region of Durham Policies and Procedures, the Municipal Act, Region of Durham Official
- Plan, Road Closure and Encroachment policies and procedures, Tenant Protection Act, Legal and Works Department policies and procedures
- Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel), Geowarehouse/Teranet, MLS and CoStar
- Experience preparing offers to lease, encroachment agreements
- Ability to interpret and prepare offers to lease, encroachment agreements, and interpret plans and technical drawings
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, research, analytical and report writing skills, effective customer service skills and organizational skills
- The ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
- A valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence and the use of a reliable vehicle
Completion of courses offered through the Appraisal/Real Estate Institute of Canada or the Canadian Right of Way Association would be an asset.
**CUPE 1764 Salary Grade 5**
This position is with Salary Grade 5 and will be paid at the following hourly rates:
- Start: $37.47 - Six Month: $39.55 - Job: $41.63
**Conditions of Employment**
