**What You Will Do**:

- Pit optimization, pit design, life of mine scheduling, equipment selection, and mine OPEX models.
- Fleet cycle time studies and haulage network development.
- Block model manipulation for mine planning purposes.
- Support ongoing scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.
- Assist in economic studies of mine plan alternatives.
- Support the development of technical reports or narratives.

**The Opportunity**:
The Corporate Mine Planning Team is seeking an ambitious student to join our team for the summer of 2023 as part of our Gold Rush summer internship program. Our Mine Planning intern will assist with a variety of tasks.

A placement at Kinross Gold Corporation is a unique opportunity to be exposed to different disciplines within the company and also gain site experience or preparation for a role at site. Additionally, working from our corporate office gives you context about our sites and how they all tie into the broader portfolio, and impact shareholders and the market. The teams you will be working with are engaged and high-performing and include approachable people from all walks of life. They are very hands-on and take mentorship seriously, so you will receive a lot of support, guidance, and training to gain the skills you need to get the job done.

**Must Haves**:

- 2nd or 3rd year student studying Mining Engineering.
- Familiarity with mine planning software is a great asset (MineSight, Gemcom, Vulcan, Datamine, Surpac, MineMax).
- The Applicant must have their own lodging in Toronto for the duration of the placement.
- Strong analytical skills using Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- .Self-motivation and the desire to learn new skills.
- Previous site experience is considered an asset.

**Nice To Haves**:

- Language skills in French, Arabic, Portuguese, or Spanish
- Experience working with culturally diverse teams
- Active extracurriculars
- A demonstrated interest of having a career in mining
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
