**What You Will Do**:
The Intern will assist the Internal Audit and Risk department with the planning and execution of internal audits and the SOX compliance program. The Intern will also participate in the coordination, analysis, and validation of Kinross’ Corporate as well as Operating Sites’ risk registers for quarterly risk management reporting, within Kinross’ Enterprise Risk Management program.

**The Opportunity**:
A placement at Kinross Gold Corporation is a unique opportunity to be exposed to different disciplines within the company and learn about the business. Additionally, working from our corporate office gives you context about our sites and how they all tie into the broader portfolio, and impact shareholders and the market. You will also be involved in operational and compliance type Internal Audit engagements. Compared to External Audit/working at the Big 4, this will expose the prospective intern to a different type of audit that is not learned at school. For prospective CPA Students who are unsure of what Accounting/Finance path they want to pursue in the future (i.e., FP&A, Reporting, Treasury, IA, etc.), this role interacts and learns about the roles and responsibilities of the different Finance teams / provided an overview. The teams you will be working with are engaged and high-performing and include approachable people from all walks of life. They are very hands-on and take mentorship seriously, so you will receive a lot of support, guidance, and training to gain the skills you need to get the job done. By the end of your internship, you will have developed tangible internal audit, risk, planning and business skills that will help you get the most out of your final year(s) of university and set a meaningful foundation for your career post-graduation.

**Must Haves**:

- 2nd or 3rd year university student, enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting or related field
- Lodgings in Toronto for the duration of the placement
- Basic understanding of accounting;
- Strong time management skills; the ability to meet multiple and competing deadlines
- Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

**Nice to Haves**:

- Language skills in French, Arabic, Portuguese, or Spanish
- Experience working with culturally diverse teams
- Active extracurriculars
- A demonstrated interest of having a career in mining
- Highly motivated, with strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
