Climate Smart Advisors are integral to the delivery of BMO Climate Smart, guiding companies across North America to measure and reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In any given week, you may be providing boundary setting expertise to first-time or multi-year GHG inventory reporting clients, reviewing client GHG inventories for quality assurance, or supporting the development of GHG emission reduction plans.

Ideally, you have experience supporting organizational data collection efforts. You understand the spirit and core principles of net zero, climate change science and current issues, and are confident recommending emission reduction initiatives. You know how to ask the right questions of clients that builds their capacity for introducing climate change solutions. You are comfortable in a fast-paced client-facing role, you’re eager to learn about new industries, and you can work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders to ensure clients are reaching their goals through the Climate Smart program.

**Primary Job Components**
- Provide clients with technical support for GHG emissions inventories, develop emissions reduction plans, and assist clients to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to lead Climate Smart within their organizations
- Conduct data quality review of completed inventories, delivering feedback to clients on data collection methodology and accuracy according to the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and Climate Smart best practices
- Drawing on Climate Smart’s existing resources and case studies, advise clients on emission reduction strategies to address their most significant sources of emissions
- Assist clients in developing an implementation strategy for their emission reduction plan
- Work alongside Customer Success in tracking the progress of participating companies and organizations to ensure that they finish the tasks required to complete their certification in a timely fashion

**Experience, Skills, and Characteristics**
- Experience in GHG Accounting and knowledge of climate change research as it relates to emission inventories a strong asset.
- Post-secondary education in environmental sciences and business, or equivalent training and work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in client service or advisory roles, including reporting
- Superior data analysis and excel modelling skills, with proven ability to develop valuable business insights from complex data sources
- Project management experience over-seeing project implementation, and maintaining client records in a CRM
- Experience building or influencing emission reductions in a business environment
- Organized and comfortable dealing with large sets of data, proven ability to extract unique insights from disorganized data. Highly capable in excel, experience with MS suite, or other data analysis and/or visualization software is desirable.
- Customer Service Oriented, enjoys presenting complex information to non-technical audiences
- Strong critical thinking and methodological analysis skills. Sound ethical judgment and history of evidence-based decision making.
- Strong understanding of trends in climate action in relation to the private sector
- Strong oral and written communications skills with an ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences. SBTi, CDP, or other sustainability disclosures experience an asset.
- Ability to manage time and manage multiple projects
- Open minded, creative problem solver, analytical, technically proficient in data analysis, excellent time management
- Entrepreneurial, self-starter
