**Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.**

**NATURE AND SCOPE**:
Reporting to the Zone/LSS Manager, the Assistant Zone Manager is accountable for assisting in the day-to-day operations and maintenance requirements and implementing and maintaining operational standards to ensure safe and efficient daily operations and providing leadership to zone staff, as delegated by the Zone Manager. The Assistant Zone Manager is also responsible to backfill for the Zone Manager, as required for leaves of absences, vacations and work travel, to ensure continuity of zone operational activities.**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide backup and support to the Zone Manager in any operational activities as required
- Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues and ensure open communication with all zone staff, site supervisors and zone managers
- Assist in the supervision of site staff ensuring site activities are performed in a safe and timely manner
- Assist in managing employee performance, reviewing quality of work and fostering a culture of performance, coaching and mentorship
- Assist in planning and scheduling zone activities
- Coordinate and take a hands on role in the recruitment processes for zone operations, including full engagement in the Inuit Benefits Training Program (IBTP) to ensure compliance with the plans and liaising regularly with IBTP team
- Ensure site personnel are familiar and comply with Nasittuq policy and procedures, provide guidance and information regarding policy and procedures
- Other duties or projects as assigned that may be transient in nature.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**EDUCATION**: Post secondary education in a relevant field (business, engineering, trade etc.)

**CERTIFICATE(S) / LICENSE(S)**: Must have a valid driver’s license.

**EXPERIENCE**:Demonstrated previous team leadership experience; previous experience on the NWS preferred, ideally in zone operations and demonstrated understanding of the technical nature of the NWS deliverables. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

**KNOWLEDGE OF**: Work/project management practices relating to the operation and maintenance of remote sites is an asset; previous union experience and knowledge of CBAs is an asset; Ability to speak Inuktitut is an asset.
