About Our Opportunity
The Youth Engagement and Outreach Coordinator leads and administers Youth and Workforce Development Programs in the province by maintaining agreements supporting collaborative relationships with employers, sector councils, regional business networks, labour organizations, community and equity-based organizations, training providers, and organizations that work with youth. In this role you work closely with government, business, labour and community partners to promote youth employment, especially in emerging sectors, prepare and deliver presentations to promote youth engagement in employment preparation opportunities, and prepare and coordinate social media content to share with communication specialists.
The Youth Engagement and Outreach Coordinator responsibilities include: managing agreements in LaMPSS for Youth Programs and initiatives funded by the Skills and Learning Branch maintaining and updating new and existing funding agreements working with Regional Enterprise Networks, the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, sector organizations, equity-deserving organizations and youth program service providers to support youth employment opportunities, including bridging programs, compiling and maintaining youth engagement data collected via agreement reports and Youth Outreach Coordinator activities undertaken, and promoting youth opportunities through social media.
As the Youth Engagement and Outreach Coordinator, you work closely with Skills and Learning Branch colleagues, and youth service providers to prepare and deliver presentations, facilitate youth engagement at Career Fairs, and coordinate with government to develop and coordinate social media content as needed.
This position reports to the Director, Youth and Workforce Partnerships.
Primary Accountabilities
The Youth Engagement and Outreach Coordinator responsibilities include:
managing agreements in LaMPSS for Youth Programs and initiatives funded by the Skills and Learning Branch
maintaining and updating new and existing funding agreements
working with Regional Enterprise Networks, labour organizations, sector councils, equity-deserving organizations and youth serving organizations, to support youth in gaining employment experiences to support transition to the workforce
compiling and maintaining youth engagement data collected via agreement reports and Youth Engagement and Outreach Coordinator activities undertaken.
facilitate youth engagement at career fairs
coordinating social media content
Qualifications and Experience
A university degree plus five years program administration and development experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience, such as program development related to youth employment, presentations, developing partnerships and leading initiatives will be considered.
Critical to this position is the proven ability to communicate effectively with youth serving program partners and note service delivery issues that may arise, including monitoring and maintaining program budget, and general agreement oversight.
You demonstrate strong project and program management skill, are well organized and capable of prioritizing work under pressure to meet tight timelines and provide the highest standard of personal ethics with mínimal supervision and direction. The incumbent must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively liaise with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge of and experience with general office software is a requirement (Microsoft Word, Power Point, Outlook, Excel, Internet etc.).
