As our business expands, we're seeking our first Human Resources (HR) Generalist to help us navigate and manage our growing team dynamics. If you have a passion for people, cultivating positive work cultures, and sustainability, we would love to hear from you
**Responsibilities**
- **Compliance Management**: Ensuring all HR policies and practices are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.
- **HR Policy Implementation**: Ensuring that HR policies are being adhered to.
- **HR Policy Development**: Building HR policy that aligns with the needs of the business, the needs and wants of the employees, and the law.
- **Efficient Recruitment**: Conducting efficient and effective recruitment and onboarding processes to ensure that the company attracts and retains top talent.
- **Onboarding**: Managing non-job-specific onboarding for new employees.
- **Performance Management**: Implementing and managing a performance review system that encourages employee development and feedback.
- **Organizational Development**: Assisting in the evolution of the company's structure as it grows, including defining roles, creating job descriptions, and mapping out potential career paths.
- **Conflict Resolution**: Addressing and resolving any employee relations issues that arise.
- **Training and Development**: Creating and managing programs that enhance employee skills and performance.
- **Health and Safety**: Maintaining a safe working environment by ensuring the company meets all health and safety regulations.
- **Employee Retention**: Managing offboarding procedures and using feedback from exit interviews to improve retention.
- **Wellness Initiatives**: Implementing programs that support employee health and well-being.
- **Communication**: Maintaining open lines of communication with all staff and management, ensuring employees feel heard and valued.
- **Continuous Improvement**: Constantly looking for ways to improve HR processes and the overall work environment.
- **Adaptability**: Adapting to the needs of the growing company and adjusting HR practices accordingly.
- **Cultural Fit**: Upholding and promoting the company's values and culture, and contributing to a positive work environment.
Overall, the HR Generalist would be expected to be a proactive leader who contributes to the growth and success of the company by fostering a positive, productive work environment and managing HR processes efficiently and effectively.Develop, implement, and manage HR policies and procedures that comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Handle the recruitment process including job postings, interviews, and onboarding of new employees.
- Administer payroll and benefits.
- Implement a performance management system, facilitate performance reviews, and coordinate employee development plans.
- Help shape organizational structure and design as the company grows, including defining roles and responsibilities, creating job descriptions, and mapping out potential career paths.
- Manage employee relations and address any issues that arise, including conflict resolution.
- Develop and manage training and development programs to enhance employee skills and performance.
- Conduct performance and wage reviews.
- Implement wellness programs to support employee health and well-being.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal labor laws and regulations.
- Handle offboarding procedures for leaving employees, conduct exit interviews, and use feedback to improve retention.
- If applicable, ensure the company meets all health and safety regulations and creates a safe working environment.
- **Experience**: Has at least 3 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist role.
- **Tech-Savvy**: Proficient in using HR software and comfortable with technology in general.
- **Strong Communication Skills**: Excellent at both written and verbal communication, capable of mediating conflicts and effectively relaying information to all staff levels.
- **Leadership Ability**: Demonstrated leadership skills, capable of leading initiatives, managing people, and making decisions.
- **Team Player**: Works well in a team but can also function independently, managing their own tasks and responsibilities.
- **Passionate**: Passionate about people, culture, and organizational behaviour.
- **Problem Solver**: Able to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- **Adaptable**: Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, able to adapt to change and help the company navigate growth.
