**Summary of Duties**:

- Recreation programs provide all citizens the opportunity to improve self-esteem, motor skills, creativity, physical fitness, and social skills through a variety of crafts, arts, and physical activities._

**Role**:Reporting to a Recreation Supervisor, the Program Coordinator assists with the delivery of recreation programs across the City of London. This casual position works as part of a team in a public facing fast paced environment ensuring programs are run efficiently to meet the needs of the participants while providing excellent customer service to City of London patrons and volunteers.

**Work Performed**
- Visit programming sites across the city to check in with recreation program instructors.
- Act as a liaison between front line staff and Supervisor to promote teamwork and clear lines of communication and to ensure health and safety requirements are met and reported in a timely manner.
- Assist with the completion of staff evaluations to ensure program is meeting high quality standards, program benefits, High Five benefits (for Child/Youth programs) and compliance of staff policy and procedures.
- Complete all required paperwork and reports as outlined by Supervisor.
- Visit Purchase of Service businesses to ensure compliance of agreement and report any issues to Supervisor.
- Assist in hiring front line staff, and with the development and delivery of front-line staff training programs.
- Assist with program preparation prior to each program session starting.
- Ensure all program staff complete documentation on a regular basis for attendance, accident reports etc.
- Assist with distribution of parent evaluations and program literature as required.
- Inventory, purchase and re-stock program materials as required.
- Assist with training and supporting programming staff.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and a positive and professional attitude when communicating with the public and co-workers.
- Use behaviour modification techniques when supervising participants.
- Attend regular staff meetings as required by supervisor.
- Demonstrate commitment to anti-racism, anti-oppression, and human rights through practices and interactions with community partners, employees and individuals and support programs and initiatives that reflect this commitment.
- Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Health and Safety legislation and programs; actively promote a culture of safety.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.

**Qualifications/Experience**
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) (Prior to the start of the program)
- Standard First Aid (prior to the start of the program)
- Two years’ experience in a recreation environment
- HIGH FIVE - Healthy Child Development Certificate, QUEST Certification (preferred - applies to Child/Youth Program Coordinators only)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including publisher, excel and word.
- Access to a vehicle at all times during scheduled working hours and proof of a valid driver’s license and car insurance.

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to demonstrate good communication, high energy, enthusiasm and continued positive attitude.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of behaviour modification techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Second language is an asset (please indicate on resume).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software including publisher, excel and word and Xplor Recreation registration software (preferred).
- High level of comfort in fast paced public facing environments.
- Ability to be flexible and travel throughout the City as required by Supervisor.

**Compensation and Other Information** Wage**: $20 - $25/hour

Desired schedule of Monday - Thursday 4:00pm - 10:00pm with occasional Friday availability.
