What you’ll be doing?

CPAB’s Office of the Corporate Secretary and the Office of the General Counsel are looking for a Corporate Governance & Legal Affairs Coordinator to support CPAB’s legal department, work with the board of directors and provide support on other governance matters. In this role, you will:

- Partner with the Corporate Secretary & Assistant General Counsel and other team members to ensure the effective and efficient running of all board and board committee matters.
- Manage board and committee annual workplans, coordinate and schedule all board meetings (including director travel and expenses), and board and committee meeting agendas, minute taking
- Support the CPAB leadership team in board material preparation, and support the chairs in preparing for meetings, and other board-related matters.
- Support the General Counsel’s office in general legal operations tasks such as contract management, corporate filings, whistleblower matter management and other general administrative duties as needed.
- Act as the Hearings Coordinator for CPAB’s review proceedings process on an as needed basis and support the Corporate Secretary in all review proceedings related matters including preparing firm notifications and other correspondence.
- Support Vice President, Enforcement in several enforcement related activities.

What you bring to the role?

The following skills will help you start and succeed in this role but not all are necessary if you’re willing to learn and grow:

- Experience supporting a board of directors and executives.
- Experience working with a Corporate Secretary is a strong asset.
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, attention to detail and excellent judgment are a must. Poise and comfort when interacting with top executives and board directors is key.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to balance competing demands while maintaining your professionalism are a must. Project management experience would be helpful.
- Experience in supporting multi-site operations and sound knowledge of Diligent Boards or equivalent software would be a strong asset.
- A law clerk diploma would be a strong asset but is not required.
- Full written and spoken fluency in English (required, as the vast majority of the team is located in Toronto as well as the board meetings.)
- Full written and spoken French is a strong asset.
- Ability to travel to Toronto
