**Campus Planning Specialist**:
**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Manager, Campus Planning and Real Estate this individual collaborates with various stakeholders to create future-oriented, sustainable, resilient, and well-designed spaces and environments that make efficient use of infrastructure, can be easily maintained in direct support the institutional mission and vision. The activities of this position often require close interaction with senior leadership and governance bodies for input and/or approval.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:

- Develop, implement and steward the core campus master plan, including support for site assessment in the capital planning process;
- Develop and implement land use strategies and plans that support the core campus master plan, and other campuses and facilities where required, ensuring alignment and integration with adjacent uses of USask land;
- Provide strategic guidance, principles, recommendations, implementation and direction for long-range planning of building sites, infrastructure, and space plans, including adjacencies with the public realm;
- Identify and implement diverse opportunities for consultation with USask and community partners related to campus and infrastructure planning;
- Act as the key USask planning representative, with local and regional municipalities, Meewasin, Innovation Place, utilities and agencies regarding land use, campus and infrastructure planning;
- Maintain a strong connection with relevant U15 education institutions with respect to campus planning and development of teaching and research facilities;
- Provide input to local and regional transportation planning that promote sustainable multimodal transportation strategies for all campus users;
- Use stakeholder input to infuse Indigenization, equity, diversity, and inclusion, that positions USask as leading by example;
- Balance the need for future-oriented spaces with the historic environment which are both valued by stakeholders;
- Collaborate on proactive planning for environmental and operational sustainability, energy management and behavioral change within the campus built and green environment;
- Provide leadership and technical planning support to the USask development permit process.

**Education**: A university degree in urban planning, land use planning, architecture, landscape architecture, or a related field.

**Licenses**: Additional professional certifications, including membership or eligibility in the Canadian Institute of Planners, may be advantageous.

**Experience**: A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in university campus planning, development planning or community planning.

**Skills**:

- Plan, lead, and facilitate integrated planning processes with diverse stakeholders to ensure projects meet USask planning objectives within resources allocated.
- Articulate and defend USask long-range strategic planning objectives related to upholding and enhancing its core teaching and research mission.
- Analyze and interpret data; use data to determine implications, provide strategies and make strategic recommendations.
- Conduct needs analyses, plan, organize, manage, monitor, complete, and evaluate projects within allocated time and resources.
- Communicate effectively and convincingly both verbally and in writing.
- Exercise diplomacy to effectively resolve conflict and facilitate multiple parties with varying interests.
- Proficiency in analyzing spatial data, including GIS and infrastructure, with high attention to detail, to make informed decisions about land use, transportation, and infrastructure.
- Prioritize work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Commit to teamwork with both external and external parties.
- A solid understanding of urban planning principles, land use regulations, zoning regulations, environmental policies, campus master plans and design concepts.
- Adapt to changing needs, technological advancements, and unforeseen challenges to facilitate modern campus evolution.
