We are looking for a detail-oriented and reliable Accounts Payable Clerk to join our finance team and contribute to our mission.

Job Summary: The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for managing and processing all invoices received for payment and for undertaking the payment of all creditors in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, the ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced multi-store environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Invoice Processing:

- Receive, review, and verify invoices and check requests.
- Sort, code, and match invoices.
- Set invoices up for payment.
- Enter and upload invoices into the system.
- Track expenses and process expense reports.
- Payment Processing:

- Prepare and perform check runs.
- Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
- Resolve invoice discrepancies and issues.
- Maintain vendor files and correspond with vendors and respond to inquiries.
- Reconciliation and Reporting:

- Reconcile accounts payable transactions.
- Prepare analysis of accounts.
- Assist with month-end closing.
- Produce monthly reports.
- Compliance and Record Keeping:

- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate historical records.
- Provide supporting documentation for audits.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- Proven working experience as an accounts payable clerk or similar role.
- Understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
- Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience working in a retail or hardware store environment.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
