Dynacare is currently searching for a Laboratory Assistant to join their Toxicology Department in London, Ontario. This is a 1 year Contract role, working Monday-Saturday (alternating weeks), various shifts between 7 am and 7 pm.

**Responsibilities**:

- Prepares reagents, calibrators and quality control materials daily
- Performs general lab housekeeping including 5S
- Keeps track of reagent inventory to ensure their availability prior to the start of evening shift in extraction area
- Removes bio-hazardous and chemical waste from extraction area
- Receiving of lab supplies, chemicals and reagents
- Ensures equipment maintenance charts are checked daily and reports non-conformance to the manger
- Assists in routine equipment maintenance following documented procedures.
- Sourcing out and ordering equipment parts, lab supplies, chemicals and reagents
- Handles STAT, verbal, critical and special instructions as required
- Experience in operating and maintenance of GC-MS and LC-MS/MS instruments would be considered an asset
- Performs simple non-interpretive testing procedures under the supervision of a qualified technologist.
- Ensures all inquiries and problems are handled in a courteous and professional manner.
- Documents all maintenance performed, including minor troubleshooting following manufacturer’s instructions.
- Ensures all quality control checks and standards are maintained
- Responsible to protect their Health and Safety by reporting hazards and working in compliance with established safe working practices
- Performs duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned

**Must have**:

- 1-2 years of working experience in chemical laboratory
- Laboratory assistant with minimum College Diploma or equivalent post-secondary education
- Excellent computer skills
- Ability to identify and prioritize problems; find corrective actions
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Good organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environment.
- Ability to work various shifts including weekends or afternoons

**Nice to have**:
Experience in operating and troubleshooting of GC-MS and/or LC-MS/MS instruments.
