**About us**

We are a community mental health clinic that caters for the mental health needs of our local London community through assessments, recommendations and signposting activities. Our goal is to improve mental and physical health and also to prevent suicide. We aim to be proactive and timely in our assessments and interventions. This opportunity has arisen due to long waiting time and increased demand since the onset of the pandemic. There are no inpatient facilities. Admissions go to Victoria Hospital or University Hospital, London.

We are seeking a clinical assistant to become part of our multidisciplinary team.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Interviewing, examining, and diagnosing patients' mental illnesses.
- Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests.
- Updating patient history, physical & mental examinations, and other pertinent health information
- Liaising with the consultant to ensure that patients receive their prescriptions and suggesting lifestyle changes.
- Obtaining, reviewing and maintaining patients' medical histories and records and recording patients progress.
- Providing documentation for insurance companies and third-party funders.
- Educating and counseling patients and their families.
- Researching the latest treatments, innovations, advances, and trends in the medical industry.
- Conducting or participating in outreach programs, making house calls, and visiting nursing homes to treat patients.
- Provide direct clinical care to patients, not independently but under direction and supervision of the consultant.
- Recommend and explain appropriate diagnostic tests and treatments.
- Confer with patients or family members to address any follow
- up care concerns.
- The clinical assistant is expected to help with the workflow of the clinic, when needed make appointments and manage the physician's schedule.
- Phlebotomy experience is an asset
- Knowledge and interest in research would also be an asset.
- Willingness to, on occasions, answer and respond to incoming patient calls/ inquiries
- Drafting and sending all required documentation to the physician for review
- Complying with health-care policies, including those relating to HIPAA
- Willingness to learn transcription of patient appointments

**Desired Training, Skills &Experience**:

- Proven work experience as a clinician for 1 year at least
- Work collaboratively with all health care providers, patients and families, to ensure continuity of care is maintained.
- Encourage and ensure good working relationships with all members of the team.
- In exceptional circumstances, provide additional services under the direction and supervision of a Physician, within the individual’s clinical competence, and as would be negotiated.

**Schedule**:

- Typical schedule during the week will be 9am to 6pm or as required by the business
- Weekend shifts are not expected and would be negotiated if apparent.

**Salary**: $18.00-$20.00 per hour commensurate with experience
