Currently we are hiring two (2) vacancies for the following portfolios:
**Supervisor Special Events - Event Support, 1 vacancy for 24 months**:
Reporting to the Event Support Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for implementing the vision and strategies for both the Event Support unit and Economic Development & Culture Division, supporting, assisting, consulting, and facilitating the City of Toronto Special Events and Festivals community and event organizers. This includes but is not limited to the co-ordination of festival and event resource materials, workshops, seminars work, and the event facilitation, governance, permitting of Nathan Phillips Square, consultation and project management of external organizers presenting signature events.

**Supervisor Special Events - Production, 1 vacancy for 12 months**:
Reporting to the Production Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for developing technical specifications and subsequent procurement of all technical requirements, designing, directing, and implementing production strategies for City Cultural Events’ existing portfolio. This includes but is not limited to the preparation and co-ordination of event logistics and documentation (site inspections and assessments, site plans, production schedules and technical co-ordination) and the co-ordination and implementation of safety and security, crowd control and insurance.

**Other Responsibilities Include**:

- Co-ordination of City services which will facilitate special events and festival production within Toronto and enhance the City as a whole.
- Provide consultation on all aspects of festival and event production according to industry standards.
- Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirements to support the mission of Arts and Cultural Services that address and impact specific organizational objectives - Equity & Inclusion, Talent & Innovation, Space and Access, Operational Excellence and Strong Economy.
- Development and implementation of events and conference bid strategies and marketing initiatives to entice new festival and events to our City.
- Manages the development, administration & monitoring of the assigned event budget including processing, tracking and submission of purchases, contracts, grants allocations, revenues and expenditures and ensures expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations.
- Supervises, motivates and trains assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality and organizational performance, continuous learning and encourages innovation in others, when required.

**Key Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function or an approved combination of education and experience in event planning and co-ordinating special events.
- Considerable project management experience as it relates to event industry, including planning, organizing, decision-making, and coordinating high profile events.
- Experience with technical entertainment production, logistics, and outdoor event facilitation and production.
- Knowledge of the administration of governmental funding programs considered an asset.
- Ability to lead, motivate and supervise internal and external working groups/teams and effectively manage and coordinate meetings.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact, communicate effectively and courteously and establish and maintain effective partnerships with other staff, community groups, elected officials, agencies, businesses in relation to the event support portfolio.
- Ability to work in a high-stress creative environment with frequent and competing deadlines, multiple tasks, and high-performance expectations due to the public profile of special events and their relationships with the political wing.
