Conditions of Employment: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Potential exposure to strong odours or small streams of smoke (e.g., smudging sage, sweet grass, etc.). Requires overnight travel several times per year. Qualifications: Essential: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Indigenous studies, public administration, environmental science, or related field. An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered. Extensive experience working in policy and program service delivery, preferably related to natural resource management, Indigenous relations, economic reconciliation, and/or community economic development.  Experience planning and overseeing project implementation and ensure that projects are completed in a timely manner and within budget. Including leading diverse, interdisciplinary teams, to achieve consensus recommendations. Considerable experience transforming, developing, and implementing programs, systems, and service delivery. Including monitoring and evaluation tools and processes. Extensive experience working with internal and external stakeholders, including Indigenous governments and representative organizations, industry and industry associations, post-secondary institutions, and other levels of government. Considerable experience leading and conducting research and analysis, interpreting statutes and regulations, conducting external stakeholder engagement and consultations, and developing recommendations for senior level decision makers. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex information to a variety of audiences, including executive and senior management. Political acumen as demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to executive and senior management, ability to exercise excellent judgement in decision-making, leading teams, and showing initiative. Duties: The Strategic Policy and Initiatives Branch is responsible for coordinating holistic and integrated approaches that align with government strategies concerning reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples. Reporting to the Executive Director, the position leads a team that coordinates strategic initiatives that advance Indigenous inclusion in natural resource management and development, as well as system-wide implementation across branches. This position is also responsible for developing, monitoring, and evaluating multifaceted programs that encourage Indigenous participation in sustainable resource management. This includes project management, change management and collaboration with lead branches on the development of policies, procedures, and the delivery of services.
