All shifts are day shifts, weekdays.
This job combines Drop-In care coordination & recovery support work.
Anawim is a not profit in Victoria BC that seeks to empower people that are facing daunting challenges and barriers in their lives. Anawim provides two programs.
Drop In program: A home-like environment for people to pursue self growth and meet their immediate needs in a comfortable and safe environment.
Transitional Housing Program: For people to live at Anawim. While staying at Anawim, coordinators work with residents on case plans addressing issues such as poverty or substance misuse.
The House Coordinators work within a small team to maintain a safe and sober environment, and run services for the drop in program such as meals, laundry, and showers. House Coordinators also work one to one with members of the transitional housing program to help them achieve personal growth.
'''Responsibilities'''
- Opens and closes Anawim house, including checking morning chores have been completed prior to open. At closure, ensures the house is in a suitable state for staff to leave (locking all doors and ensuring service spaces used by the drop program meet end of day cleanliness and sanitization standards).
- Maintains a sign in sheet of guests using services throughout opening hours.
- Accepts and sorts donations, including carrying grocery boxes to storage areas.
- Cleans drop in program showers after use of guests.
- Helps resident on shift prepare the day's community lunch if needed.
- Meets weekly with one to three residents as assigned.
- Attends a Wednesday morning house meeting with staff and residents, as well as a staff meeting to discuss ways to improve programs.
- Documents meeting reports and incident reports as well as manages digital and physical files of guests and residents.
- Gives tours and interviews to potential residency applicants (involves stairs).
- Supports volunteers as needed
- Starts and stops house and guest laundry as needed.
- Assists management and other team members with program related disciplinary decisions, including banning drop ins and possible evictions of residents.
- Administers urinary drug tests to residents as needed (roughly once a month).
- Assists management and other team members with program related success stories, including helping successful residents transition out of the program.
- Records hours worked and maintains a consistent yet occasionally flexible schedule.
- Important: all applicants must be able to maintain a sense of self-wellness, and self-awareness throughout challenging conversations.

- Ability to use a naloxone or overdose prevention kit is an asset
- Cooking skills are an asset
- First Aid certified
- Food safe certified
- Knowledge of community social services is an asset
- Knowledge of alternative conflict resolution is an asset
- Knowledge of household maintenance is an asset
- Knowledge of pest control is an asset
- Past (former) lived experience with addiction and/or depression & anxiety is an asset
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $24.23 per hour
Expected hours: 15 - 40 per week
