**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Responsible to oversee the intake process/clinical psychometric assessments to students provide administrative management to counselling interns, manage work-study administrative staff, manage program training, and assist with the general operational administration of the FITA program. The Assistant Manager is integral in ensuring a high level of service excellence facilitated by coordinators and interns and ensuring staff have support for escalations and decisions on an on-going basis.

**Qualifications**:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:

- Knowledge of operational management and leadership concepts practices including program/service delivery models, policy development, planning, performance
- measurement management, and human resources
- Knowledge of mental health psychotherapy program design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation methodologies, processes, and practices
- Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of office as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
- Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
- Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity
- Knowledge is used to lead FITA unit
- Must be able to practice current counselling/therapeutic intervention strategies and have clinical experience with issues relevant to post-secondary context: anxiety, depression, behaviour difficulties, learning disabilities, LGTBQ issues, career/work issues, family of origin issues, post-traumatic stress, trauma, grief, substance abuse/ addictions, sexual assault, eating disorders, personality disorders and their resulting functional limitations and ability to provide counsel on appropriate means of support or accommodation.
- Must have experience with psychometric testing, both in administration and interpretation of results (mental health, careers, academic achievement, learning strategies, reading, writing, personality).
- Experience in group counselling.
- Broad familiarity with theory and practice pertaining to mental health and psychotherapy. Specific knowledge of various psychotherapeutic modalities, psychological assessment tools, and research literature relevant to students with mental health concerns.
- Knowledge of support systems at Carleton and in the community.
- Detail-oriented and excellent organizational skills, demonstrated ability to help ensure that an organization operates at a high level of clinical and administrative excellence.
- Strong interpersonal and crisis management skills, problem-solving, and relationship building skills.
- Excellent ability to empathize, listen actively, and support change-making.
- Skills in leadership and public speaking, experience presenting to groups.

**Education and Experience**:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:

- Completion of a four-year honours degree in a relevant field (I.E Communications, Psychology etc.,)
- Minimum three years of previous progressive mental health psychotherapy program and service experience including up to one year of management and leadership experience
