**SUMMARY**

The position is responsible for procuring raw materials, common mechanical and electrical components, finished goods, manufactured parts, consumables, and outside services required for the fulfillment of project assembly builds and customer service orders. The individual will be responsible to source, purchase and expedite delivery of goods and services at the most favorable price, contract terms and conditions, and on time delivery to meet production and order schedules. The position requires daily communication and coordination with internal departments and vendors to reduce the risk of material shortages and production delays

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND Responsibilities** include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Generate purchase orders according to specifications provided by engineering and project management and initiated from requisitions and MRP demand using CIMO and Microsoft Great Plains.
- Identify appropriate vendors, request quotes, negotiate price and delivery, and select the best vendors to satisfy project and purchase requirements.
- Work with VMI Vendors to ensure requirements are maintained and updated as needed.
- Remain aware of production priorities and coordinate with engineering, project management, material planner, and production to find creative solutions to resolve material availability and delivery issues.
- Contact vendors to follow up on status of purchase orders, expedite delivery, and inform project managers and production of the status.
- Coordinate the return and replacement of any purchased goods that do not meet quality standards.
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy, attention to detail and record-keeping to ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
- Provide feedback to the procurement team regarding vendor quality, on-time delivery, and cost.
- Maintain records of all purchasing and expediting activity.
- Support the development and improvement of department processes/procedures.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**

Post-secondary education is preferred (minimum high school diploma or equivalent) and a minimum 4 years of experience purchasing in a multi-service provision, preferably in an industrial, engineering, or automation industry.

**LANGUAGE SKILLS**

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, procedures, or engineering part drawings. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Display a sense of customer service through timely responses and follow up to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, vendors, and the public. Ability to effectively collaborate with others to resolve conflict.

**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS**

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

**OTHER SKILLS**
- Knowledge of basic contract formation and negotiation techniques as well as experience in executing strategic procurement activities.
- Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, and ERP software.
- Effective organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills, with ability to prioritize work to meet deadlines without compromising service.
- Problem-solving skills, discretion, diplomacy and demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment when handling confidential/sensitive information and communicating with internal/external clients regarding controversial matters.

**REASONING ABILITY**

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variable.
