Managing the hiring process, including preparation of postings, initial screening of applicants, scheduling and coordinating interviews, preparing interview tools and correspondence, performing reference checks, and writing letters offering employment.
- Ensuring that required documentation is completed for all new employees and that data is accurately entered into the HRIS.
- Assisting leaders and employees in the interpretation of collective agreements, policies and procedures, particularly as related to recruitment, approval of absences, and salaries and benefits.
- Carrying out projects involving development and implementation of Human Resources policies and programs, preparation of job descriptions, compiling statistics, metrics, reports and conducting research.
- Serving as a point of contact to leaders in the areas of attendance management, WSIB claims, safe return to work and accommodation, and performance management..
- Providing confidential counselling to employees on HR related issues and ensuring adherence to policy and completion of all necessary correspondence.
- Serving on committees to further the goals of the HR team or to represent the division. Attending meetings, taking minutes and following up on action items for committee meetings chaired by the Manager.
- Participating in the investigation process as the recorder.
- Preparing reports from HRIS data and completing surveys.
- Other duties as assigned.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Successful completion of a degree program related to human resources
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation (or in progress) preferred.
- At least three years of experience in Human Resources preferably in a unionized environment.
- Working knowledge of employment legislation (Employment Standards, Human Rights, Health & Safety, etc.)
- Flexibility and good problem-solving ability and excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to exercise tact, discretion and effective communication skills in relating to all levels of staff and the general public.
- Very good computer skills including Microsoft Office and HRIS databases (experience with Ceridian Dayforce preferred).
- Very good planning and organizational skills.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively in a team environment with internal colleagues and leadership at all levels, as well as with external partners.
- Skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse population and knowledge of health inequities.
- Communication proficiency (written and verbal) in French and/or any other languages is highly desirable.

The salary for this position ranges from $64,314.06 to $75,664.49, based on qualifications and experience.
